I did when I was younger but didnt like the idea that soemone would or could read it so I stopped. It helped me understand my feelings by writing them down though I didnt like looking back at the pages and reading what I had previously written as if I had written something when I was angry, I felt stupid thinking about why I was so angry in the first place and why I had all those angry thoughts!!
Though I did never use names when writing about people just incase my diary did happen to fall in the wrong hands!
I do use a diary that I write down my working hours and birthdays so I dont forget them! Do you use a personal diary or just a normal diary to help you keep track of your working hours and plans for the week??

i use a reflective diary and still do to this day however i do not write entries in often and when i do it is usually like the kinda things u said u wrote about, when im feeling angry or sad. I also keep a "to do" kind of diary, it helps me to remember what i gotta do and helps me plan my life.

I blog so my friends and family can keep up to date with my family. Though I talk to most of them on the phone quite a bit; some of my extended family that I don't get to talk to all the time read it too.
My husband bought me a really pretty journal a month or so ago too. I write the more personal stuff in there. This is where I can write and not hold back what I am thinking or feeling. My husband knows he can read it if he wants to and sometimes he does. I don't care. He knows that he may not like what he reads; but that is okay. He doesn't even talk about what I write unless I bring it up. He never gets mad at me for what I write and if he does he keeps it to himself.
I suffer from really bad anxiety. It is easier for me to write out my feelings; so sometimes I would rather him just read my journal to know what is bothering me. Then we can discuss it easier after he has "heard" everything.
9 times out of 10 I feel better afterward.
Journal writing for me is a sort of therapy; plus it opens up a line of communication.

I used to keep a personal diary when I was a teenager and had just started work. It began as a work record as I used to record my hours because they could be different every day and I needed to check my pay at the end of the week.
However that led to me making nots and reflections on things other than work.
When we went to Europe two years in succession in my friend's old car I recorded a sort of log of the journey.
The oldest diary I have is from 1969 and it's amazing to see an entry
Isle of Wight - Bob Dylan
in August thay year. Happy memories!

It is good being able to look back at the 'old times' and reminse but then there are times that I wish to forget. Its nice to remember the good times and the fun times!

I just have a work diary where I write down meetings and other boring work related things. I used to write a diary when I was younger but a few years later when I reread it I sounded so shallow that I got rid if it and never wrte one again!

yes i had a diary which i maintained for almost 3-4 years though not on a continous basis.i would write all that i would feel for and felt disturbed with. i feel that it is one of the best therapies to work with if you're the sort who don't feel comfortable talking to anybody about your problems. It is a way where you can let go of your inhibitions by writing what you really feel because it is something which is not to be shared.so you don't run teh risk of anybody calling you silly or feeling that you're little disturbed!!

When I lived with my mum I used to use the computer but made sure it had a password on it so only I could access it. Also at school, I used the computer but would change the writing so it was in arabic or something that way if someone came across it they wouldnt understand it unless they could read arabic but we all had our own username and password. I used it for a few months and then deleted it.

I used to have a diary back in my teen days. Kept them till my early 20s and then tore and burn them all. I felt that it was quite pathetic to reread them. I don't keep a diary but I do use a diary to write down my everyday things to do list.

When I was younger, I always had diaries. I'd be willing to bet that many members of family read them. By bf even confessed to reading one that I had when I was in college. As an adult, I moved on to an online journal. Whenever I go back and read my entries I want to tear the pages up/erase the words, or laugh/blush. I don't keep a journal much, now, except to write down things that I don't want to forget. It's funny how, in hindsight, you would've handled events in your life differently.

Yea I have quite a few times in the past. I haven't recently but I probably should. I have really bad depression and my counselor from a few years ago said I should keep a journal or diary to keep my nerves down. It really did help a lot. I think I only kept one of them and that was only because my sister bought it for me. I might go back and read it one day but we'll see. That one was from a very hard time in my life with my current ex boyfriend. I always thought about feeling stupid later too so that kind of prevented me from writing in the first place. I always used names but that's because if I write something about someone, I write it with the intention of someone finding it. I'm brutally honest when it comes to people that I really don't like so if I have or had a problem with them they already know what I think about them. I have a notepad I don't use that is supposed to keep me organized, but like I said I don't use it so it doesn't really help. lol

oh my god, it does not work for me. my parents and friends always ask me to write my diary, and i started writing even. but, i donno, it will not work for me. i will write for two three days and stop it. i dont feel any interest in doing that. may be nothing interesting is happening in my life :). but yes, sometimes i feel that it was good to have a personal diary, at least to read and enjoy past days. then, suddenly i will start writing and same will be the condition...

I also used to keep my personal diary whenI was about 14 years old. A few months back I started keepingmy diary again but now not in diary but in a computer software. When I look back previous entries in my diaries I can easily reflect my thoughts at that particular moment and I used to wonder how silly I am to think that. I use my diary just to keep track of events of my life. I do use names in my diary because if I don't I will forget who I was referring to. I use seprate diary for tracking my work hours. It will help me get lot more organised.

i have. several diaries. i like writing my feelings, my track of effort, then i have the courage to go on if there's no results. the moment i left this, my life will be in a total mess. but i'm still happy if i don't write, the thing is that i will not make any progress. so when i come to realize this, i'd be unhappy

Yes, i do have a diary and its not what i call it but I call it as my quiet time notebook. Its where I write down everything from the passages and readings from the Bible and put my verse, prayer requests and priase items and prayer lists. It really does help me cope with me emotions and the struggkes I have with my life. It helps me express everything there when I know I cant talk about it to someone i can trust.

I have since middle school. I'm always afraid of things like Alzheimer's. Even if I wouldn't be able to retain memories as I had previously, I would still like to have access to them.
In terms of keeping track of things like plans, or appointments, I instead use a date book. It keeps me straight, generally. :P

Yes, I had 2 diaries when I was in high school. Sometimes, when I am not in the mood or nothing much to do, I get the diaries then start reading it. It really makes me laugh at myself because I can't believe I wrote those things on the diary. I still have it but I keep it in my box so nobody could read my silly stuff hehehe. Nowadays, since I am very busy, I don't keep a diary anymore but it was fun doing that. :)

i have written my life and feelings in a diary. however i find my form of diary to be a bit different.
i was always afraid that people would read my diary and personal feelings so a friend informed me that a good alternative to wrighting a dictionary is to write in on paper and either rip it up after wards ,or burn it.
using this method allows you to get your feelings out of you, and for no one else to be able to read it :d
as for a diary for work and plans for the week, i generally use my phone for that type of things..... phones work great when your on the go too, and dont have paper to write out your feeling, what i do is txt it out on my phone, then delete my personal feeling too.

i used to have one as a kid, it was a purple minnie mouse diary.. i had written several things in there, mostly thoughts, rantings about this and that stuff, my annoyance at my mother's not so adult-like behavior and such. But one day, my mother had found and read it, giving me a scolding i would never forget. so i vowed never to have one ever again and it turns out i never needed it at all as i was growing up.. i never had that much secrets that ever need to be hidden to begin with, and as i was growing up, i have been more vocal of my feelings and my expression of annoyance at my mom... for important dates and reminders, i have a pda, and i never put anything too personal in there just in case someone browsed it..
