parents must be like a friend to children

I am a parent first and a friend second, to be their friend I would think I couldnt make the right choices on their upbringing I must be their parent first with good authority over them. To me a friend wont tell you what to do but will support you and be there for the mistakes, a parent has to do this also but at the same time there are times when you must tell them what they can or cant do to help them grow up properly hence im a parent first and foremost and always will be.

i think it's a good thing that parents become friends with their children because in that way, they can easily be communicated well, sharing their problems and also secrets..it's a good way of having trust to each other, free to talk anything..

I am a firm believer that we SHOULD be friends with our children BUT still maintain the role of the parent...I'm best friends with my kids but I'm also still the one in charge, I have rules that need to be followed and so on...
