Sorry, nope. Proof below:

And before I get any of the "you can't test prayer" complaints, I want you to see this short comic so that you can realize what you are really saying when you say something like that:

If times are really bad, in whatsoever devout manner you pray you are definitely unlikely to be considered by the supreme God's consideration.

hello shalahvaid, i am not catholic. but in all honesty i love pope benedict XI. and i appreciate him reaching out to other religions and also the american people (also american catholic) and providing a possitive message of hope. we could use all the possitive mesages we can get in this world today. but i am very confused about the catholic religion or one of it's customs. when you pray are your prayer's already written ? perhaps i should look into this more.
but if this be the case. why is this so ? doesn't our heavenly father want to hear our worries in our own words ? or perhaps when we pray with written prayer's we are showing our heavenly father more respect ? i'm sorry if it seems as though i am attacking catholismn. i was kind hoping you could help me to understand written prayer's a little more.
i do want to say that when i pray. i know my heavenly father will answer me. but sometimes i worry about vain repitition.
but great subject and take care -o.t.g !

hello oldwades123,
Well to answer you on this the catholic religion actually encourages prayer in your own words. It helps us pour out hearts to jesus and when we do all that we have in mind, we assess and put forth before him.
We do,though read out the prayers because as a group,so that we understand what we are paying for.
Do send me some of your own prayers, only composed buy you that is.

Yes, prayers works! I always pray to God whenever I am sad or needs assistance/help and God usually gives me what I want. Also, I pray when I am happy and I don't forget to give thanks to him.

Do read your prayers or make them up by your self?

God is supposed to be omniscient(all knowing). Then why is there a need to place our needs and wants before Him .

In the beginning, I read from prayers book as a guideline. But I find that I don't a connection with God. It is like reading a passage and I can't pray wholeheartedly. Now, I use my own words when I pray. It is like talking directly to God. It is better to use your own words. I can express better that way.

Yes. It works. Prayer works. Because GOD IS LOVE, gracious and merciful all the time. Not because of the manner we pray, how long or how eager...

I really believe in praying. If you are sincere in your request GOD will surely answer your prayers at the right time.

Of course they do but it defends on person who's praying and what he is praying, if you are praying on the misfortune of your neighbor, I think it will not work, and there is a verse in the bible saying (Pro 15:8)"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight." I hope you understand what I mean.
Excuse me for the bible hater people this is not for you.
