I just got an email from abroad colleague and he said ciao at the end of letter. This remind me of another time, when a hansome man met me in a bar, as well as his beautiful girlfriend, and then he wrote a email to me and use bella ciao to express farewell. I am going to copy this express this time, fortunately I found out that bella means beauty for colleague is he. So I reply with 'thank ciao for now' instead.
Is this a good salutation or behind the times? what will u say if someone else greet u with ciao? the more ways u told me, the more appreciation I take for u.

Hi Daisy. I know "ciao" is an informal Italian word that means hello or goodbye. If he used it at the end of the letter then he is just saying goodbye to you or simply just closing the letter. You don't really have to reply with ciao. You can end your letter with any closing remarks you can use. For example, till then, take care, love lots, see you soon, talk to you soon.
