'There is very little news in newspapers such as 'The Sun' or 'Daily Mirror''

Discuss. How far do you agree with this view? For those of you outside of the UK these newspapers are popular, right wing, contain lots of photos, big headline, and not that much writing. They cover a lot of the big stories, especially those that have shock-value. And contain the famous 'page 3' which show delightful photos of topless women. Personally I can see both sides, but I'd love to hear from a Sun reader and hear everyones views on the subject. Maybe you're not from the UK but your country have a version just like it - I'd be interested to know!

well as they have suportd labour at the last few general elections I think the claim they are right wing is not right. They are extraordinarily ignorant however and responsible for a great deal of prejudice. They also work on the principle of "folk devils and moral panics" keeping people in fear and ignorance (eg at the moment about eastrn europan immigration)thus increasing their sales. I would not class them as "news" papers at all and the standard of journalism is abysmal. The Mail is not much better. The Telegraph and the Times are the best Newspapers by far. Shame no page 3 though ;)
