Where is your favorite place in nature--- tell us about it so we can go there to

When you need to experience the healing powers and the peace and beauty of nature, where do you go? Please list the name and describe the place so we can see it and experience it to? I like going to this place called Unity Church in Tustin, California which has a beautiful gardens with waterfalls, flowers, and plenty of butterflies and hummingbirds flying around. I go there sometimes when I just need to sit in the sun and relax or write songs or other things...It is, for me, sometimes a place of contentment. I may not set foot in that church much but I visit the gardens often and sometimes browse their bookstore too with its books and stones. Now it is your turn... Tell us about your favorite place outdoors and in nature... somewhere that you go perhaps close to your own home (like my special place) or perhaps it is a place that you have been to a while back but revisit often in memory. Take us there. Remember: list the place, its location, then describe it. Thanks.

Well I havent seen much of nature, but whats here in Texas and a few other places. ONe of those places that i revisit and wish to go there again, is the mountains in New Mexico. It was so pretty there, the air is fresher the water cleaner. Animals 5 feet from you before they dart away. trees everywhere. It was so awsome. Now a place around me, there isnt really any for a few reasons, i live in a fourplex, and all around me is apartments, and duplexes. I guess the park next to us is a great place, but i like to go in the trees, and with a kid to watch in the water I cant really go where is quit. Allthough I love to swim and that part of nature is so relaxing too (only our water is real dirty in that lake and you come out of it needing a lot of scrubbing in the shower.) A group of trees that you can go into and just feel nature and not civalization is real comferting, Espically in a bad mood. after my one and only heart break occured i went in the back yard, that had a bunch of real skinny trees no thicker than two fingers, and only a few feet away from everything and everyone on both sides. I still had comfert though, I still felt peace come over me and I knew in the end everything was going to be fine. Its a real memorable time. But then there was this other time i was running away and had to sleep in the woods, I came out with mosquito bites ALL over my body, the fallen tree i sleeped on was kinda comfertable, but not the mosquitos, I dont htink i was loving nature to much right then LOL. I also enjoy just sitting on our back porch with a book, or sometimes just to sit there. Its real peaceful, and i wish i would do stuff like that more often, whithout a car its hard to drive to a good spot.

oh descriptions... Descanso Gardens has a large rose garden, camellia garden and bulb garden. Lake Tahoe is just gorgeous, a deep blue lake surrounded with snow capped mountains. Yosemite has the most beautiful granite mountains with waterfalls surrounding a a beautiful valley. Hawaii has tropical gardens, beaches, volcanoes, etc. And Galapagos, which I did not mention, has the most fascinating animal life...

I like my very own home province of Bohol, Philippines. The beaches are soooo nice and there are lots of gardens and parks that you can go to if you want to relax and just be at peace for sometime. But my favorite is a spot at the back of our house where it's cool and windy because of the many trees and slightly elevated terrain. It's a sort of a small hill with mango and coconut trees that entices lots of birds to stop by. I just place my hammock under one of the trees and read a book or sleep while listening to music. It's heaven for me!

My place is in Hawaii and, it is a little bit of two places. It is on the Kona Coast of the Big Island. The pool and the outdoor restaurant during breakfast at our hotel when we went there for our honeymoon. The hotel was the Outrigger WaiKoloa Beach Villas and the outdoor restaurant with the breakfast bar was so great that I think about it many times a month and our honeymoon was 6 years ago. My hubby and I are not morning people and, I am usually not a breakfast person but, we never missed their breakfast bar because it was the best ever anywhere we have been. The pineapple in Hawaii is the best, sweetest, juiciest pineapple anywhere. I cried our last day there. I didn't want to leave any of it. Not the breakfast, not the beach, not the hotel or the pool, none of it. And, the pool was just so huge, tropical, beautiful and unforgettable. It was cool in the morning but, as soon as that hot Hawaiian son kissed it, it was the perfect temperature to cool your skin down from that sun without making you cold when you got in it. Now I want to go back again.

You have mentioned the most amazing place in Oraange County. Their gardens are so special to meditate in. You introduced me to this place. Thank you! Since I moved, lately it is my backyard! As you know, I moved from CA to the midwest. I face a wooded area with wildlife. It is so peaceful. Thank you God for this opportunity!

I am glad that you are happy in your new home in Missouri... so far from California... You actually see deer and woods without having to take a trip up to the mountains. You get snow without having to drive up to the mountains... and have more variety of weather than I have ever heard of...grins. I hope to eventually come and see you there and meet those deer and the woods you have described. Good to see you my long time friend. Hugs. Thanks for posting here.

The first place I go to experience the healing power of nature is my yard. I love "playing in the dirt", working in my herb garden, trimming the lilac and rose bushes, harvesting the herbs. There's just something about getting your hands in the dirt and touching the plants that drains out all negativity, resolves indecision, sparks creativity, and reaffirms your belief in yourself. When I lived in New Mexico, my youngest daughter was in the 3rd or 4th grade. We'd take a picnic lunch to Cimarron Canyon. We'd spend the day climbing around exploring the local flora. She was fascinated with moss and fungi and would spend hours finding and identifying different types for me. All the while the river gurgled close by and aspens soughed amid the songs of the wild birds and scurrying of the chipmunks. It was always hard to pack up and come home.
