I actually have an electronic piano right now, but it's kind of a really really old model and one of the speaker ain't working anymore.
The thing is though, I love to have a real piano but I've read that it's pretty expensive. There also seems to be a difference of sound between the two and I kind of prefer the real piano.
If possible though I actually would like to choose an electronic piano as much as possible since it's cheaper, but my question is... can today's model imitate well the sound of a real piano? I am planning on learning piano with a teacher within this week and I need something to practice with.

I have seen some colleges selling older pianos and know that there are places you can go that are perhaps not too expensive like estate sales, auctions, etc. to get them. You have answered your own question in your post. You like the real piano's sound. Gettng something other than that will not likely satisfy you.

Well... I was actually talking about my old piano model hehe... I was hoping that there's somehow a new model that would somehow really imitate the sound of a real piano, but anyways thanks! I now know that there's no such thing and I would just have to save up for a real piano rather than wasting my money on a digital one.

I have played the piano for most of my life, and I love it. I would definitely prefer a real pinao oer an electronic ones. I like the sound quality in a real piano. No matter how good the electronic ones are, they can't compare with the oriinal pianos.

I see... I made a little research myself. It seems that I really do need to buy a real piano if I want to be a professional in that instrument. What's really holding me back is the price. If only it's not so darn expensive... Is $1000 really the cheapest piano there is?
