Carrots are a nice healthy addition to meals and snacks.
WHen I was a kid I wasn't too fond of them. My mom had to bribe me to eat them:)
But now I do like them a lot.
I cut them in thin slices and cook them with rice. Add them to my stews, eat them raw with or without a dipping sauce, grate them to add to some sauces and grate them to eat as a side dish sometimes.
Do you like them? Do you use them a lot in your meals and snacks? What are the ways you like them the most?

I"m sure you can cook them with pasta. Depends what you are doing. For example when I make tuna and pasta salad, I boil the pasta, eggs, peas, and carrots in small cubes. I then put everything in a bowl add the tuna , diced cucumber and a bit of mayo. The carrots actually taste that well with the mayo.
For the rice I start with finely chopped onions and garlic and brown that in olive oil. I add a bit of chicken or meat stock and the carrots either very finely sliced or in very small cubes, and let it cook for a bit, then add the rice and the water slowly.
It's really good to eat with any kind of meat.

I did not like carrot at all in my childhood days. When I started to eat baby carrots with various kind of dipping, then only I started to like them. Other then eating baby carrots as a snack, I like carrots with rice also. I grate them and add to my salad.

When I was a kid I didn't like them that much either. Mostly I think because my mom use to serve them just boiled and it's the way I like them the least.
But once I started cooking my self I started doing it in many different ways and realized I did like them:)

Occasionally snacks, though mostly in the summer. They're used in dinners alot, in stews, I make honey glazed baby carrots, as is, served with mashed potatos...
I'm a creative cook, so someday I'll get around to putting them in more dishes as well methinks =)

you know what Arkaf, carrots are the one vegetable that I still do not like that much. i eat them because they are good for you and the vitamin a is soo very good for you, but I really do not like them. Baby carrots are somewhat better then large older carrots, they are not as strong in flavor. I always encouraged my kids to eat them, therefore I had to eat by example LMAO... I cook them all of the time, I just do not ladle myself the amount I do my family.

THe way I like them the least is just plain boiled but now I cut them in slices before boiling and then when they're nice and tender I add butter and lemon juice. That way I actually like them :)
I always used to try to eat the healthy stuff as an example for kids, but sometimes it was almost a sacrifice LOL

Funny you should ask that. I am making carrots with my meal on Thursday. I love the candied carrots I make, it is one dish I know that I have had many who say, "Oh I don't like carrots." They always eat mine. It is funny to see.
I like them raw and to mix in stews, foods, and assorted things.

hi arkaf61...
i agree carrots are nice healthy food addition to meals or snacks...
in breakfast i put carrots and sweet patoto (both are very healthy) in my oatmeal...it is prepared chopped and cooked together with rice in rice cooker.
my mom also puts carrot in stews and it tastes good complimenting the mushroom flavor...
it can also be an ingredient for making salad, or lumpia (a dish in philippines)
for raw carrot i prefer grating it and making sandwhich together with mayonaise yummy!
SMILE ALWAYS....^_^
