So when you are making vegetable soup do you peel the vegetables or not? My mum peels all vegies for everything, and generally I do the same however there are times when I just can't be bothered. When I am making vegetable and chicken soup I find peeling to be nothing more than a waste of time. What about you... do you peel or not?

Generally, I always peel the vegetables. Especially the potatoes. I know there a lot of people who like potato skins all on their own. I am not one of them. So I never put in any potatoes without taking the skin off. I guess I'm weird. : )

Peeling the vegetables is what I was taught so I just do it naturally. It is bother sometimes though and I often wish for an easier way out. I only leave the peel on if I boil the vegetable. That way I can remove the peel before eating. (lol)

My mum always peels as well. I don't think she could ever not peel!

I usually don't bother. As long as you wash the veggies good, why worry about peeling?

The only veggies I peel are potatoes and cucumbers. I hate peeling potatoes though! I always end up cutting half the potato off!

I always peel carrots. I usually peel potatoes, except red ones. I leave the skin on because it really adds flavor. Hmmm. I haven't made soup in a long time. Now I am in the mood. I may have to make some soon.

I generally like my vegies peeled as well but for soup if I am lazy I don't bother. Everyone here is sick with a change of weather cold so I need to whip up a quick broth to help everyone feel better. It was so incredibly yummy I don't understand why I wait till someone gets sick to make it!

I just wash them really well. Like another said, most of the nutrition is just below the peel, the part a lot of people cut off! When you're putting them in soup or cooking them in other ways, the peels become soft and I barely notice them when I eat them. I used to prefer them peeled but forced myself to cook them unpeeled and now that I'm used to it I can't imagine going back to peeling! Besides that, I'm too lazy to peel them.

It's funny how you say you are too lazy to peel them, generally though I feel that washing is the harder of the two!
