I Believe I Can Fly!

I have a problem. I have grown a pair of tiny "wings" where my biceps are supposed to be, and I don't like them at all. I'm not entirely sure when they appeared, but I'm not a bird, and I don't appreciate my flab-wings. So I have come up with an ingenious way to tone my arms up a little. While I'm online waiting for a page to load, I take a light-resistance rubber physical therapy band (it's about 4 feet long), and double it over. I take an end in each hand, and pull it as far as it will go. I move my arms up, down, and back, all the while stretching and relaxing the band. It works exactly where I want it to, and nothing has ever done that before! I am so excited to have found something that fits into my everyday schedule and will help me to FINALLY eliminate those "wings"! I also have an elliptical that I use for the length of one or two songs on the radio every day. I've even begun doing some ab-work while I load the dishwasher! It's little adjustments that are becoming my saving grace, and I'd like to find some more. I don't always have time for driving to my local park, and my small exercises are ones that are done in the course of my day as I'm already doing housework and playing with my son. I don't want my whole life to revolve around diet and exercise, but I would like to fit in a little extra here and there. Any suggestions? What are some things you have tried with success? What are some things you've tried and didn't like, but someone else might like? What small adjustments have you made, and how do/did they work? Thank you in advance for your responses!

I find that cans, jars and bags of sugar... potatoes as well, are a great replacement for small weights and when putting them into the cupboard, take two of similar weight and hold them with your palms up, lowering them, and then lifting the items back up and into your chest, before putting them away. That's an exercise which is good for your little "wings" as well. When climbing the stairs, stop near the top of bottom and do aerobic step-ups. Good for leg-strengthening and firming up muscles, and when sitting at your computer, waiting for something to load, place your palms on the desk, and push hard down on them... good for the bust and the arms. Brightest Blessings, and happy toning, my dear friend. xxx

Those are great ideas! I know those things are awfully darn heavy when I carry them in from the car, but I never thought to lift them a couple of times when I put them away! I also love the one about pushing on the desk. I don't have stairs, but my sister does, and I visit her once a week. Wouldn't hurt to take an extra minute to get to her front door! Thank you so much for your ideas, they're great!
