My childrens primary school is closed tomorrow(thursday) because of a teachers strike. The teachers are striking because they want more pay.It is thought that about 1,500 teachers will take part in the action tomorrow. I fully support the decision because i think teachers deserve more pay as they do put up with alot from the children. And like someone said "Teachers who are not worrying about how they are going to pay their mortgage are happier more relaxed teachers". Would you support your teachers at your childrens school if they took action or would you oppose it and if so why?.

Hmm this is a tough one. I know the teachers around here make like 50k a year on average! Thats a lot of money a year! When most people make like 16 a year. I think they are hurting the children by going on a strike, in the long run it will effect them. What if this keeps going on? All because they cant afford their mortgage? Well then buy a cheaper house! And dont take out mortgages. And them putting up with a lot from the children, well they choose that job. They didnt have to.

Steffyhoney, I partially agree with you, on some of the issues...and sometimes its the other way around the kids have to put up with these bad teachers that dont want to be there and just dont care, but the kids have no say so, in our present society no body listens to them.

I don't know of any teachers that make that much, here in the UK they get paid between 17-20k a year. Its not just the mortgage its because the cost of living standards is alot higher than what a teacher gets paid. True they are the ones that choose to do that job

I would most definitly support them. I know that they are under paid and over worked. Teachers are nation builders and should be treated as such. Why is it that they have one of the most important jobs there is but have to fight for a decent salary.

It doesn't seem fair at all. It seems that most people support thier action. Lets hope they get more pay.

I am all in favor for teachers getting more money, I just wish they could find another way than going on strike during the school year. Going on strike doesn't benefit the kids at all.

It would be good if they could find a different way as i agree it doesn't benefit the children at all. I think they feel it is the only way they can get their point across.

I do support the fact that teachers deserve to be paid more. Teachers do deal with a lot, I know I couldn't do it. I would support the teachers at the school my children attend if they decided to go on strike. I think it is very important to pay teachers enough to give them that incentive to go the extra mile while educating our children. Our children are the future and deserve to have a good education. If we are not taking care of the teachers probably then most likely they will not take care of our children properly. I have to also say, there are those teachers who do not strive to go that extra mile, who just do not have the heart and personality that works well with children, those teachers should not get a raise, in fact those teachers should not be teaching at all. But for the most part, I agree that teachers should be paid more. Have a great day!

I would gladly support all the good teachers out there, but the bad ones are the ones who spoil the whole process. I know as my kids have a few in their school, but seems that the schools put up with them because the good ones are hard to fine.

Yes they do spoil it for the good teachers. So far i have been lucky and have only come across a few bad teachers and they did not last too long.
