This is not about how long do fellow mylotters wait to give out the Best Response. I want to know why some mylotters give out the BR so early. I went to a few different discussions today where I wanted to respond but the BR had already been picked and the discussion was only 4 hours old. Do you all do that or do you at least leave it up for a day or so. I prefer to leave it up for a while so that I get more input on the subject. Do you still respond even if the Best Response has been picked. Thanks for any input on this subject. I hope that you all have a great day.

I don't get that at all. like to leave my discussions up for at least a week before hading out the BR because I know some people on my friends list don't login that frequently.

Well, if I see a responce that really hits home for me, I will give it the best responce but I probably should wait atleast a day first but I usually don't. Bad ma!!!

I never thought of that, but I bet that does happen. I wouldn't want to do that, because if I am posting something it is because i really want to hear what everyone else says, therefore I am going to read all the responses and pick the one response that I truely feel like was the best advice, most comforting, most intellectual...etc. Thanks for the response, have a great day!

I prefer to leave the choice for at least a week on here, as many responses are often a few days later. I can't see the point in picking a BR so quickly, when there are other people out there waiting to respond.

I have tried doing that during my first 3 weeks here, where I was still learning the flow of mylot! thinking that I will not be able to get more responses! and now, I am learning more so I am also adjusting myself! ABout topic where BR was given already, it won't stop me to participate still especially if the topic is within my interest!

Some do, Some don't. For some responses I have been given a BR, almost minutes after my posting. For some , it took days to get one. I do not think that a Best response closes a discussion and still respond even if the best response is given cos I might have something to add to the discussion.
A Best Response is a personal choice of the Discussion starter. If you response is close to what he/she thinks, or for a general discussion, opens up avenues for further discussion on the topic, then you are most likely to get a Best Response. Its all depends on the Discussion starter. I think getting a Best Response pushes someone on CLoud 9. Well, it pushes me to one.

Getting a BR is motivating and its very nice to open up an inbox and find a message waiting there for you saying " Congratulations. You have been Awarded a best response".
As I said earlier.. Its all about personal choices..

I see "Best Response" being given sometimes early, sometimes late..I suppose it depends on the patience of the Person who posted the discussion! I have posted discussions resulting in few or NO responses..maybe those other posters in the same position got bored easily,or got the answer they wanted sooner than expected, and went with the BR to signify this?

yes i have always wondered why people give out best response so early as well.i tend to wait at least a week or so as the discussion may go on that long, then i can look and read, then pick best response,i always never respond to a post if it is already got a best response.cheers sue

If I know a discussion is not going to get any more responses then I will but that still takes a day.

nelly I have learned that to get the best numberof responses possible to wait at least three or four days then mark the best response for my discussions. I also respond to discussions that really interest me no matter whether or not a best response has been given. If I do not get more responses after a week then I pick what I feel is the best response.

When one posts... one cannot possibly predict how many responses are going to come in. Some people, after 1 day of posting see only say 7 people have responded so they pick the best response figuring that's all the people that will respond.. then.. by some weird force of mylot.. MORE people respond after no activity for a few days.. by then, the poster has already chosen and it is too late to be an Indian Giver.
It doesn't matter to me if a BR has already been selected, if I have input, I will share it..because even if it might not help the OP.. it might help others.
I am not here to be picked for BR.. sometimes I forget to pick one at all. I am here to learn, share, laugh and sometimes cry. The money?? It's a bonus.. but.. I would still be here even if we weren't paid... really.. I would

I was not trying to make it sound like I only leave a response for the chance of being picked as BR, that isn't how it is. I just don't understand why some people pick BR after an hour or two or three. As far as the money, yeah I agree it is just a little bonus we get for having a conversation, learning from others and enjoying friendships. I would also still be here even if we didn't get paid. Thanks for the response, have a great day!

To be honest, I tend to forget about doing it at all!
Some of my discussions end up with stragglers posting up to a week or more later, so I never pick one right away. I try to remember to go through my list and pick them once a week or so, but I have no set schedule.

I have often wondered that, too! I sometimes feel a little frustrated when I go to a new discussion that looks interesting, and the best response has already been chosen after only a couple hours. It seems a little unusual to not at least wait until the end of the day or something so that people have a chance to respond. I have only started a couple of discussions of my own, but I waited quite awhile before picking a best response so that I could try to get more responses from people first. I usually still respond to discussions even if the best response is already chosen, cause I still like to give my input if it's on something that interests me, and also I figure I will still get paid something for my response either way! :)

Good to know that I am not the only one who becomes frustrated by this..lol You seem to be a little more relaxed about it, since you still leave your comment. I don't usually leave my comment if the best response has already been picked. Thanks for the response, have a great day!

Well maybe they think they wont get a better answer than the one they have allready been given so they choose that one?
I suppose everyone who posts a discussion is waiting for that one thing which makes it the BR if they get that soon then its understandable they give out the BR even if the topic is still fairly new

I guess I can understand that. I wasn't looking at it from the point of view. As the response above you said, maybe they did need the answer that day. I just get irritated, I guess..when I go to respond to a conversation that is only a couple of hours old and the best response has been selected. I have seen it happen a good number of times. But I guess I should just relax and not let it get to me. Have a great day and thanks for the response.
