stopping the discussion censorship

April 23, 2008 2:41pm CST
Lately when i've been reading some discussions some of the comments are censored. I looked at the side bars and under faq's and haven't found anything to clear this up. does anyone know how to undo this?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "censored" but here's what I think is happening. Since you are a new member, you probably have not changed you settings to allow 'mature content'. Now don't get the wrong idea, 'mature content' tags can be placed on many innocent things purely because the filter can't understand the context of the word. Yes the more adult discussions are 'mature content' but even something as simple as a discussion about a certain cut of chicken or a nursing infant will get the tag just because of that one word. To fix that you just go to 'edit your preferences' and check or uncheck the box about mature content. The other possibility is, you have just been seeing discussions where the original poster "censored" themselves just to be a little more polite. Welcome to mylot and feel free to ask any questions that you can't find answers to in the FAQs and guidelines!

It might be censored because it is considers as mature content. I think if you go to edit your preferences, there will be a box that you check to allow mature content.
