This article I think will really help those of us trying to cut back on spending in the kitchen! http://www.usnews.com/blogs/alpha-consumer/2008/3/4/life-on-7-a-day.html?s_cid=msnm:21food plan ahead, stock piling, buying in bulk... I think theses are all good things we all should try and do... How many of them do you do?

that makes me wonder what I spend a day. lol I buy food and make it last 2 weeks, I spend about $50 every 2 weeks, I do go to the store every week though, can't make bread, milk, tissue, etc. last 2 weeks. lol If I remember to do it I will have to see if I can calculate that. I bet it comes to about the same maybe a little more. Still $7 a day is not bad. Thanks for the article Y.

dear friend, its nice that you submitted great articles in here. i don't think $7 to spend in a day is wisely in my place cause if we can be wisely (in my country) in spending, we can spend only $2 for daily foods however, the articles which submitting in there is really useful to make us more wisely in spending our money for food cosuming

I do this already. We have been doing it for years. Another thing that I do is if it is onsale and is a non parishable I will buy alot of it and just pack it away in the pantry. One thing we do with meat for instance as sometimes it is quite expensive we buy in bulk. But another thing we have and works great for my family is my fiances father is a beef farmer so we get beef and pretty much no cost just cost of packaging. We also trade beef with the chicken and hog farmers as well so we get a little mix. My brother is also a hunter so we get other meat that well as well so we do cut alot of the meat and packaging costs from the stores. Works great.

I stock up with tins, but dont tend to freeze leftovers for another meal. Might have to start doing this so that when I get home from work and my boyfriend is working, I can zap it in the microwave and not 'snack' on junk food. I might try and plan ahead, have two weekly plans and alternate between the two so we dont have the same meals on the same day!!! Im gonna have to get organised!!!
