Well, I think the in the US that the Federal Reserve needs to be removed. Congress is supposed to have control of creating our money not some rich bank. Then we wouldn't have to pay interest on our own money. Congress has the ability to take back this power at any time but has not done so. This is why America is in so much debt and our dollar value is declining. They loan us money at interest, our own money, and then when we need more money to pay it the interest they just print us more money (at interest) and that creates a lower value dollar.
Another thing is we need to bring our jobs back home. So many people are struggling to pay their bills and feed their family. Prices keep going up and no one is getting a raise, if anything they are getting let go. This would help in saving the housing economy. If people had a good paying job then they wouldn't loose their home, they would be paying their mortgages and the banks wouldn't be in such a problem.
If we could just start there it would help a lot. Oh, and get someone in office that isn't corrupt and knows what they are doing.

The list is endless.
The housing market needs to be near the top of the list here in England. With the Bank of England cutting their base rate, it is important for the banks and mortgage lenders to pass these cuts on to the borrowers - us - instead of lining their own pockets.
Employment - always an issue worldwide, with implications for the economy left right and centre.
Crime / terrorism - there isn't a day goes by when we don't hear about these two. Must be high on the agenda. The knock on effect on the economy is huge.
