Friends! i am a bit confused. What is the difference between Intel 'Dual Core' processors and 'Core 2 Duo' processors. It's bamboozling me really. Which will be ideal to play high end games. Please clarify.

Core 2 Duo is newer than the original Dual Core. If you can, get a Core 2 Quad instead, and a really good graphics card, if you want best performance for games.

Yes good advice indeed. If its newer its better its cheaper too, If you are into game don't compromise processor, video and memory. Keep posting Arkarthick

Get Core 2 Duo as what the previous posters suggested. Also, I've heard it can support 2 vid cards.. is that true?

I agree with the others. A Core2Duo would be much better for games than a Core Duo. Although if you are looking for a good gaming experience you really need an all around quality computer. If you have a fairly decent budget a gaming quality computer shouldn't be too bad. Specs I would recommend. Memory- NO LESS than 2 gigs of DDR2 ram Processor- Core2Duo 2.66 (I believe this model is cheaper than the step below on Newegg) or higher (or Core2Quad Q6600, sorry, don't remember speeds) Video- Either an 8800gt or a 9600Gt. These cards produce similar ratings, but the 8800gt is an older model and will likely be found cheaper. Hard drive- 250gb, most games these days are reaching double digit gig marks because of this a larger HDD is needed. Plus, you need room for all the music, movies, and pictures to be saved aswell. Good luck with your computer.
