Do you buy shoes for its comfort or for its style?

When you go to the shoes section or to a shoe shop, do you look for shoes that is for comfort or buy it because of its style?
Most of us guess are attracted to a shoe on the rack for its style. But for me, I should try first if I would not be feeling any pain or be tired at the end of the day and see if I will be comfortable with it. Rather than buying a nice looking stylish shoe, I would be looking for one that has comfort but is nice looking.
I remember my cousin who always wears high heeled shoes and very stylish at that but at the end of the day, she would complain about her aching feet. I would tell her to buy shoes that are quite a little flat to give her comfort but she says she is not in style in her office. I wuld just smile and point to her aching feet.
So, Do you guys buy shoes for comfort or for style or try to do a combination of both?

Every now-and-then, I might - MIGHT - sacrifice comfort for extreme style. (Notice I said 'extreme'). However, if momma isn't happy, NOBODY is happy! The comfort neccesity usually wins! I agree with the person above me: in order to look sexy, you have to feel sexy, and wearing shoes that are uncomfortable don't make you look sexy when your face is balled up in pain. Let's talk style, though. I tend to go for platform/wedge shoes if I want to add height and have style, and be comfortable. High heels are dangerous, and bad for your calves and back muscles. They also make you more prone to leg clots, which can travel to your heart or lungs and KILL YOU.
Regular, normal, everyday (average) platforms/wedge add height, and while the soles of platforms make your feet rest at an angle, they still keep your feet more or less 'level' than a high heel sole, which bends your arch into an unnatural position. They can also have really neat-looking carved/cut-out designs in the heel wedges, or even the entire wedge can be made of a carved image such as a heart, etc. However, the neat-looking carved heels can be a little like wearing high heels. I wish I could add a picture, but go to this web address to see what I'm talking about when I say 'extreme' style. Now, *THIS* I would definitely sacrifice comfort for! lol

For me,this is a very simple question.I am only interested in comfort.I am not worried what others may think about what I wear.I wanr comfort at a reasonable price. The feet NEED to be taken care of as we are using them so much during the day(and sometimes night).

I also don't care what others may say as long as I am comfortable with what I'm wearing. You are right in saying that the feet needs to be taken cared of. Thanks for the response.

Well....i read some of the responses you received and have one question;who is buying all the expensive shoes?(my logic;style = costs). But there must be a market for them or they would not be produced.

Good question Lone. Yeah most of the responses went for comfort but most also considered style. Well I guess most of women also consider style and a respondent answered that well. She would not mind buying stylish shoes with consideration. I would buy some stylish shoes if needed but most of my shoes are bought because of comfort.

I am not a shoes girl, LOL, I love to collect blouses, but when I will buy shoes, I will consider both! It should be the style and at the same time comfortable to wear especially I love walking a lot and I have to consider also that it will last longer, since I am not buying very often!

I have a stubborn feet because when I go to the mall and stroll for hours, my feet get so swollen or tired.. sometimes it is too hard for me to walk... but my friends are okay... so I have to buy a shoes or sandals on where my feet is secure and have comfort so that I would not have any trouble in walking and going to other places. :)

now this is an easy question. comfort, comfort, comfort!!! i love the way heels look but i cannot wear them anymore. they kill my feet. in my younger days i suffered just to look good but i don't do that anymore. i do what is best for me and comfortable is the way to go.

I think its always like that as we get older that the feet cant take the weight anymore and of course having no pain in the feet is more important these days to stay healthy and strong.

I stopped buying shoes for style in my 30''s it was then that I gave up wearing high heels. I have trouble walking and the last thing I need is to worry about uncomfortable shoes.

I cant blame you for that and I too would buy comfortable shoes if I have trouble walking myself. A lot of times high heeled shoes makes one uncomfortable after an hour or more.

How our feet moves at times in the day affects somewhat our back as it carries more our weight. I agree that in order to know if they are comfortable, well I also try them out first.
Thanks and I hope you are wearing comfy shoes now so as not to hurt your back.

I always go for style. sometimes i take into consideration comfort, but only when their is more than one pair i love and i cant afford both. I think shoes are the opening to the perfect outfit and shouldn't be overlooked.

I'd choose comfort over style anyday.. but i really believe you can have both comfort and style in a pair of shoes.. that's my qualification for a 'good pair of shoes'. I can wear heels all day as long as it is open/round/square toe. It doesn't have to be 4-5 inches high, 2-3 inches of heels is comfortable enough. If i have to wear pointy stilettos for work, i'd bring a pair of rubber slippers inside my bag so i can wear it during lunch break and on the way home to rest my feet.

I also bring a flat shoes or slippers and wear them going home to let my feet rest as well. Thanks Underthesun.

I go for comfort rather than style coz in the end I will be the one to suffer. But usually I pick shoes that are stylish at the same time comfortable.
I also pick the classic styles......trendy shoes are just in for the moment......a fad that slowly fades when the new trends arrives.

I agree with you on that ans same as you, I don't buy much of those fad shoes as I would wear them only for a short time and it wont bring me my money's worth back.

Mostly comfort now as ever since I ruptured my archilles I usually buy flats or very low heels. I did buy a cheap pair recently for a wedding but hardly wore it because the wedding was on a beach and I ran around in bare feet (well most of us did LOL)

I look for shoes by looks...if theyre cute I'll try them on but if they arent comfy i wont buy them.
I have some supercomfy really ugly shoes i love to wear.
I cant stand having sore feet and I'd rather be comfortable than wear heels or something thats too small or fits oddly or even rubs when it shouldnt.

Thanks Saundryl. I also have shoes that are worn out but because of the comfort they bring, I still wear them once in a while. I also hate shoes that rubs my toes and get hurt or painful at he end of the day.

I love to buy shoes, but I would prefer a comfort rather than style. But nowadays you can buy shoes that has comfort and style at the same time. You just need to try it first before buying it, that way you wouldnt complain after.

Both are factors when I buy shoes. Of course, a nice style would catch my attention but I wouldn't go ahead and buy it just because i like the style. I would try it out and if it fits comfortably and feels comfortable, I would go buy it. But, if it feels like it would make my feet ache, no matter how nice the style is, i won't buy it.
