When do you think it's too late to call others?

Dear Youless, If you are calling someone late in the nights, it would most probably the ones you know very well. You wouldn't call people whom you don't know personally isn't it? I always make sure from my friends and relatives whenthey go to sleep and their habits etc. Soi would know when to call. Another point is I myself will be in bed by 10.30 and so there is no way that I will call others after 10.30 pm. I have always told my children to call me before 10 pm but if it is urgent they know they can call me anytime they like. I never switch off my phone. All the best

I usually don't call people after 9:30 unless I know that they stay up late. Some people around here go to bed really early. I'm a night owl myself so the night is actually the best time for me to call others.

I go to bed late and get up early.Depending on who it is and how their schedules go.I will call them accordingly.Like my cousin,she slept till about 3:00 in the afternoon unless she had an apointment and stay up till God knows when.So,I knew I could call her at midnight and it was no big deal.Then my aunt in uncle go to bed around 8:00 PM and get up about 5:00 AM.So,I call them about 7:00 AM.But anyone that I don't know their schedule I do not call after 9:00 PM or before 9:00 AM unless it is important.

I would stop calling even to my close relative, when the clock gets past beyond 9.00PM.. After the day long hard work,... some of them may prefer to retire to bed,early and some by 10.30 or so, as you said.. Similarly i won't ring them up early in the morning, before 7.00 AM..

Hello dear youless. I don't make any call to anyone if it is that late unless it is my own family members. But I always turn off my cell phone before I go to sleep. Sometimes I don't switch on my cell phone during my days off as I want my time to be enjoyed by myself only without getting bothered. I am going to sleep now as I get up too early this morning, five in the morning. I don't know why I always wake up early in the morning and then I do not want to sleep again. I find it hard to fall asleep once I wake up in the early morning. Good night,sleep tight, dear youless.

HAH to the poster who describes this as "very considerate"! They must be a telemarketer, because this is common manners. We are a little more polite in the UK and I think we should draw the line around ten o'clock for good friends and nine for those we know less well.

I wont call anyone after 9:00 because I wouldnt want anyone calling me after 9:00. Only if its an emergency. I know some people stay up late but not everyone.

i think beyong 10 PM. if its really something urgent, i call. other than that i avoid calling after that time.

I live in Pakistan, In Pakistan most of the people sleep late night, after midnight, so I don't call anyone after 12:00, Most of my friends (whom I call) sleep late night so I don't mind them calling after 10:30 or 11:00

Well, it really depends on how well I know the person. And also how urgent is the call. If the call cannot wait, I will usually send a text message to see if the person is still awake before making a call. And in the event of an urgent call, it doesn't matter already. Cos the call is urgent. Even if the fella is asleep, he has to wake up to handle my call. But I do encounter some inconsiderate people who will call up so late in the night only to ask something trivial. The worst kinds are those that call up only to find out it is a wrong number! And they do not apologize for waking you up by calling the wrong number! Those are the ones you want to strangle, cos usually after you are woken from sleep, it will take heck of a long time to go back to sleep.

I think that would be "pass 10.00pm" because some people are early sleepers and I wouldn't want to disturb them, unless it's something really urgent. I wouldn't want people to call me after 9.00pm for some reason, I guess I just want to enjoy the silence and I would like it if someone calls me and just wants to talk with me.

I have rules that I don't call people after 9 pm or before 9 am. It drives me nuts when i am trying to put the kids to bed or sleeping in and that darn phone is ringing!

It all depends. Generally I prefer to send text messages. And I am quite familiar with the time clock of my friends. If it's too late for one, I will not call. But it might be not to late for the other, I will still call him/her if necessary. Anyway, I have to consider others.

Hello Youless, For me it depends on the person . If I am close to them I know what times to go and not to call. Any other calls that I make to other people for an array of reason : I will not call after 10 at night . I think 10 is a very popular time for the latest to call someone . When I was back in High School calling a friend at 10 was pushing it for me , and usually I would call around 9 . I myself am a late person on going to sleep and many people know they can call me till mindnight.

I don't normally call people after 9. I don't want to wake anyones kids up, heck I know adults that live alone that are in bed by 9pm LOL My husbands friends will call at 11pm or later which really pisses me off.

I agree with the first response, it just depends on who I am calling. If I am calling someone in Hawaii, then I can call them very late. But, if I'm calling someone in New York, then I can call them early. Generally, I feel that you shouldn't really call someone after 9PM unless you know that they won't get angry when you call them. But, you never know with some people. In the morning, I generally don't like to call anyone before 8AM on the weekdays or 9AM on weekends.

It depends on the person I am calling. If I don't absoutly know when some one normally goes to bed I don't call after 9:30, especally if they have kids. I have one friend that is up late but if that phone rings her son will wake up. Another friend that I can call any time her son doesn't wake up and shes always up - at least it seems like it. I have a few single friends with no kids or obligations that I know I can call any time of the day or night. So its really a person by person thing.

For me the deadline is 10.30pm. I don't like to speak to anyone after that. ~pinks~

To call a friend late in the night is considered to be not courteous unless the call is really an urgent one. So I always try my best not to make any call to my friends after 11pm. My son who works in another state usually goes to bed around 1am therefore I have never called him after 12:30am.

Anytime after 9.30pm. No-one calls us after 9pm unless it's an emergency.
