What do you think society should do to rapists and murderers? Would you place emphasis on punishment or reformation?
I personally believe that punishing a really bad person will not prevent him from repeating the crime. On the other hand, it would make him even more bitter. Also, it would not benefit the victim or his/her kin in any way. Vengeance can never be looked upon favourably.
I believe that the scum of society should be guided towards reformation. This is easier said than done, though. Who's to say whether they're serious or just acting along? However, every human life is valuable, even if it is the life of the meanest, cruelest person to walk the planet. We destroy our adversaries by turning them into friends, not by striking them down.
However, the views expressed above are only my own. I'd love to hear what the rest of you think.

Sticky situation... If it was a family member of mine that had been raped and murdered then I would be more inclined to say the punishment would be the best option. Every life is valuable. But when someone destroys a family member or a loved one like that I think your mind is swayed. Reformation is good in theory. Teach the once unteached the morals and justice of the world and release him or her a better person. But for the most part I think the mind is already to far destroyed to acheive that. Once you kill someone, I think it changes you to the point you cant return from.
