Favorite Comedians (Stand up and other)

I do not watch a lot of TV, but when I do - it is not uncommon to find me sitting in front of the television laughing my butt off to the Comedy Network.
Some comedians really have talent and others...not so much. A good comedian will do his thing, and the bit will be remembered, retold, posted on You Tube - You name it!
There are some heroes out there as far as comedians are concerned - and I am not talking about Jerry Seinfield (although some may find him funny and he was ranked as one of the top 10 in a comedy poll - I for one - don't care for him.). My favorites are Comedians like Chris Farley, Russel Peters (FUNNY), and even Robin Williams. But the list goes ON!

My favourites are two British comedians called Bill Bailey and Eddie Izzard. Eddie's broken into the States more in recent years and has done some acting in the show The Riches. Bill Bailey also does a lot of acting and was superb in the comedy series "Black Books".
Both their stand-up material is superb. I love their dry and yet surreal styles. Bailey also uses music material in his sets and they're fabulous. I've seen them both performing live on stage and buy all their DVDs. They always have me in stitches.

I think Eddie's best stand-up is Dress To Kill. Bill Bailey's is Part Troll. If you like British comedy you should have a look at Black Books. You might like it. It's quite surreal. Faulty Towers is classic genius. Much in the same vein is Blackadder (although not the first series).

i like robin williams and there is a canadian guy who hosted the junos (the canadian version of the grammys) but i cant remember his name...my hubby saw him a couple times on tv...but my favourite comedian has to be RICK MERCER (another canadian) if you havent seen him, you have to catch him.
here in canada we have a couple of great shows that poke fun at the government (this hour has 22 minutes and Canadian Air Farce) both great shows!!

ROFL - YES!! I am Canadian also and agree that Rick Mercer is good (I believe he is also in Just For Laughs...another Canadian show in Montreal)

I don't want to sound like the typical college bro but, although he's gotten kind of stale as of late, I enjoy Dane Cook's comedic delivery. I also really like Zach Galifianakis.
