So about 4 weeks ago I got off the pill, not because I wanted to, my doctors felt that I didn't need them. Ok so fast foward to yesterday. Yesterday my period was due and it didn't come. I can't be pregnant because I have not been sexually active with my husband since I got off the pill.
So I decide to go and read up on what is going on. Well guess what? It seems that those that have been on the pill for quite some time, don't get a regular period or if at all until after a year of being off the pill. Ok, not that struck me as odd. So this morning I called my doctor and he said because I was on the pill for 3 years, I won't regain a normal period for about a year, he said after 3 months I should get it but it won't last, in fact, I found out that I may only get it once. So what does that mean? Just that I have to wait to be normal. What do you ladies make of this?
As for getting pregnant, my doctor said I can still get pregnant but because of my anemia and other small problems it may be difficult for me to do so.

Hmm. The last time I got off the pill I was on it for about 4 years straight and I got a normal period, it is was just a bit late. I have heard that before though. The hormones just stay in your system for a very long time. Normally people who get off the pill, do not ovulate for at least 3 months after getting off. It is very rare to ovulate even a month after you get off the pill.

So you're saying I have to wait at least 3 months to see what happens? Well I'll see how it goes, since this is new to me I'll have to wait. But thank you for letting me know this. I won't worry about it then.

You should wait longer than that before worrying if you are trying to get pregnant. Here is some information on the number of women who get pregnant up to a year after getting off of the pill:

that is true-it's the body resetting itself basically.my doctor used to make me take "breaks" once in awhile from the pills, and it didn't always come right back immedietly.usually within a cycle or two though.

Coming off the pill can cause your periods to be irregular when I came off them to get pregnant though mine were fine straight to every 28 days as normal. Every woman is different though and if you havent been sexually active its nothing to worry about, just be careful because you might not be having periods but you could still get pregnant.
