What is the earliest time you start work??

Cashier/Checkout - Working in a supermarket as a cashier.
April 24, 2008 2:35pm CST
I work in a supermarket and our opening hours are 8.30am til 8pm Monday-Saturday and 10am til 4pm on Sunday. My normal shifts are 10-8, sometimes 12-8 3 days a week and I do 10-4 on sunday. I have asked for a early shift so tomorrow I am working 8.30am-2pm, I wont know what to do with my time at home after work. lol Im going to cook tea for my boyfriend as he starts work at 6pm. I might later pop to the pub that he works at and have a couple of drinks!! What shifts do you work?? Do you have early starts? If so, what do you class as early??

I haven't been able to work for the last year but my last job was in a pub so I never started that early! Before that ( I di both jobs for a while) I worked in a computer company and we worked shifts - I often started at 6am although I hated that - I am NOT a morning person! lol xxx

I work for a maximum security prison and therefore my hours are very long. I work on a three shift pattern, but my long shift is from 6 am to 7 pm, a huge 13 hours. Today is not too bad it is my short shift and i only work from 12 until 7

I own my own online business, so I can get up and start working pretty much whenever I want. I only have to work about 3 hours a day, so this can be done in the morning, afternoon, or night. I generally get up around 8:30 and work for a couple of hours, and then have the rest of the day free. I love the flexibility of it!

Wow...that must be great!! i would so be interested in this work!!! If you want to share any tips I would be happy to use them!! lol

I usually work 7.30-3.30pm, and once I got to work for 7.15 as I had a lot to do that day. I can't complain as I chaned my hours from 8-4pm to a bit earlier to avoid traffic. I think I am an early bird so I don't really mind. Yes I do have early starts though I know of people who start work at 6am and that is mega early!

I so would not be able to start work at 6am!! Luckily Ive never had a job that requires me to do so! I still think 7 is early but luckily I only get up at the time when I have to start at 8.30 which isnt that often! My boss has to get up at 4.30am in order to be at the supermarket for 6/7am (doesnt help he lives in Doncaster!!) I so would not be able to do it but then I suppose when you do it that often, you get used to it but still dread it!! lol

i started as early as 3am when i have a meeting at another site for the company calibration. we are a 24 hour center so it was really possible that we have so many different time to follow. i have been having problems with that already these days cause i am going to a double, triple shift and i have been awake at work for like 24 hours straight! you can just imagine how much drained i am and when i come home, i would head straight to bed and if not for my mom, i might not have woken up for at least 15 hours!!! i am beginning to feel how it was to be a slave! haha

I also work at a supermarket but we are open from 6 a.m. until midnight. I usually work from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. but sometimes I work earlier or later. On Wednesday night, I have to work overnight to hang our new sale tags so I go in at 11:45 p.m. and work until 8 a.m. I hate that but I like being off the two days during the day.

I could not imagine opening up at 6am, its quiet in our supermarket til about 9.30am or 10am, it would be ghost town if we opened that early!! I'd prob fall asleep on the checkout!! lol

I am naturally a late riser. I don;t drag myself out of bed till 8 at the earliest, unless the kids need me sooner. But Tuesdays and Thursdays I have to be to work at 5 am so I have to get up shortly after 4. I only work partime, and these two days are only 2 hours long, but it is very difficult to get p and out the door on time.

I am lucky to be working in an office that doesnot require me to stay there for 8 or 9 hours... there is also no specific time when i have to be there... but i always make it a point to come to work between 9 am to 10 am... and i leave between 3 pm to 4 pm... even if the pay is not that good... the flexible time makes up for it... giving me more time for my baby...

I work for myself so the earliest time I start work is when I want to..LOL. But generally, I start around 9.30 and work on and off throughout the day, especially when I have an idea for an article, until I go to bed at 12.30am. On some days, when I am trying to develop a concept, I even work until 4 or 5 in the morning! So though I have a great time waking up when I want, I also work strange hours which many people don't. Swings and roundabouts, I suppose, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

ahhh.. work. With my current job, the earliest would be by 730am till 430pm. Which sound early to some. That is normal. But when I was with Singapore Airline, graveyard shift!, Starting the earliest at 3am in the morning till 12 noon. And then it might just end up till the next day.. argh! thank goodness current job's time just suits me.

Hey cinderella2007, I've got a job that basically deals with customer support and solving technical problems. It is probably the US shift wherein i got to work at the night. It's quite tiring, but i am finally accustomed to it.I usually start at 11 pm and end it up at 5 am in the morning.:(
