As a meat eater, is there any meat that you would never consider eating/trying?

I am a meat eater, I do love my meat (not how some of you might be thinking) but I am a basic meat eater, what I mean by this is that I will eat chicken, pork, lamb and beef. But I know that there are a lot of other exotic meats out there on the market available to buy, such as:Kangaroo, Crocodile, duck, rabbit, in fact if it walks about its eaten!!
I would never consider eating or even trying what are called exotic meats, I just could not imagine eating some of them at all.
So to all the people that are meat eaters, do you class yourself as a basic meat eater or an exotic meat eater or one who will eat anything meaty?
Have you ever tried any exotic meats? If so what was it and what was it like?
If you think along the lines that I think some of you might, can you please keep it clean!!!

I only eat beef, chicken and pork. I can stand anything else. My uncle tried to get me to eat snake and turtle. He would eat anything that didn't eat him first. God rest his soul. So when I would go to his house I didn't eat. Because I never knew what he was serving me....LOL

I am a meat eater, I have eaten chicken, turkey, goose, cornish hen, duck, rabbit, hare, sheep, goat, frogs legs, cow, pig, oxtails, moose, dear,. I haven't tried snake but I would.
I would not eat cat or dog,
or rat,
or monkey or kangaroo, or possum, but them maybe I would try possum.
I think it is disgusting eating dog and cat, they are domesticated pets.

I've heard from a reliable source, that rat tastes a lot like squirrel, which in turn is like a tastier version of rabbit.
now I really like rabbit, so would love to try squirrel (sometimes referred to in restaraunts as "flightless partridge") but I think I'd draw the line at rat. I love my little ratties so much I'd struggle to eat a rat (oddly I never felt the same about rabbits, much as I loved the ones I had when we used to breed them)

I am definitely a basic meat eater. Chicken, pork, beef; these are the meats that I will eat. On Thanksgiving I do turkey, but not much. That bird is just too dry for me. On the rare occasion I will eat lamb in a gyro. Although I love it, if I go to the wrong place and they have cooked it too hard, my stomach will have a fit.
As far as the exotic meats go, I think that I have tried all that I will try. I have eaten deer meat (venison) and it was alright in taste, but it was very tough and hard to chew. I have also had rabbit. Like they say, it tastes like chicken, but I kept thinking about Peter Cottontail and Bugs Bunny and the Easter Bunny while I was eating it, so I didn't eat much, and I will not eat it again.
I haven't tried duck yet. That's an expensive bird, and I've heard its greasy. I might try it if someone else cooks it. But I don't know because I can't get past the greasy part.
As far as Kangaroos, crocodiles, ostriches, snakes, and frogs; they are all safe when it comes to me. I don't think every animal was made to be eaten, and these here are definitely not on my shopping list, now or in the future!!!

The best part about turkey is a couple weeks later after everyone has gotten tired of it, my grandmother makes a goulash with veggies and noodles. That to me is better than the bird itself at thanksgiving lol!!!

No, I do not think that every animal was made to be eaten either. Duck is nice in chinese meals, but I have never fancied eating it as just a plain roast. I do not like turkey, you are right it is dry, and it is so boring.

I'd only eat beef, poultry, lamb, pork, or fish. But frankly, I don't really like pork or poultry, and I often choose fish over beef.
The think about eating non-food animals like roos and crocs, is that people only do that to be extremists. "CRIKEY I'VE EATEN A JUMPIN' JOEY! LET'S DIGGERYDOO AN' STICK MY THUMB UP ITS BUNGHOLE, SHIELA!"
Of course then there's Texas where people eat each other.
I mostly just eat fish, though I can't stand fish sticks, because they're all greasy and slimy and gross. I like seafood pasta dishes the best. I'll even eat anchovies, although they are a bit too salty.

Oh I am as basic as basic can be. I only eat chicken (some people dont consider chicken as meat I have no idea where the logic comes from), beef and pork I dont eat lamb) or and I eat fish (again some people say fish is not meat). I dont even eat turkey as to me it has some strange taste but I can eat turkey salami. I could not eat anything exotic as you say it maybe if I am on some island and thats all there is I could eat it but I wont be happy lol

I would never eat snakemeat forone thing as i am scared of the slimy things. Also I have tried buffalo burgers and dilike the meat as its stringy and sweeter than beef. I have ate venison alot when I was growing up and its not too bad. I hate duck and pheasant meat which I was forced to eat as a little kid. I have ate quail and disliked it a lot like other fowls meat.Yuuck. I am a meat eater but strictly beef, chicken, pork, and lamb. And though I was raised in beef territory I have never ate the disgusting flavored beef genital products. I once ate cow brains and barely made it away from the table before I threw up.

I am no fan of snakes - which makes them all the more a delight to eat. Rattlesnack is really not that disagreeable to the pallet.
Yes, I agree brains is another thing I do not think I could ever try to cook or eat. I may very well like them if served unaware.... but I would not do so willingly.

Hi Rose...like you i eat meat, but only in small quantities..i prefer to have more vegetables and less meat.I wouldnt say that any of the meats are my absolute favourites..but if I had to pick one i would choose beef...but maybe not a roasting joint..im rather fond of brisket..slowly cooked. The meat thats produced today as you know is vastly different..the amount of processed meat is tremenous...and im none too keen on the processed meats. But when we were kids ..Mum used to cook a lot of offal...we often had tripe and onions..cooked in milk...an liver..and stuffed lambs hearts...but its odd..because now im not too keen on eating them.Another favourite was oxtail..and neck of lamb...As for the exotic meats Rose..the answer is a resounding `NO` really..i prefer to know what im eating...and if thats old fashioned lol then so be it!!

We went to a pub recently which seemed to pride itself on the exotic things on the menu.
One of them was crocodile skewers and no one could work out if it was real or something dressed up as that.
I have had kangaroo steak, and an ostrich burger. Both were lean, dark meats and a bit dry, needing flavouring to make them taste of anything much.
I have also tried venison (oh, dear!) and found that to be a strong flavoured beef-like meat.
During World War II many cats ent missing and my mother reckoned with the claws cut off most folks couldn't tell it from rabbit.

So the exotic meats are nothing to get excited about then. So do you think that people ate the missing cats then? I guess with the shortage of food that went on then it would not be surprising.

To be honest I only eat ham, chicken and, once in awhile, hamburger. I can't eat anything that was hunted (bunnies, deers, bears)...I don't know why but I can't. I don't even like to eat turkey unless it comes from the store.
Maybe I need to go vegetarian.

I don't think I would have the heart or the apetite toeat those exotic meats. I fel bad everytime I hear stories of poaching of these animals. They were not meant to be eaten under normal circumstances by humans although by nature they are edible. I really wonder how a lot of people got their apetite for such meats. I think that's cruelty unless they belong to the ethnic groups who have long been consumers of such exotic meats.

i can class myself as a basic meat eater because i wouldn't even try any of those exotic meats even if they'll pay me a hundred bucks even a million bucks just to eat those exotic meats. i'm an animal lover and that would be one of my reasons why i wouldn't eat an exotic meats

I've eaten alligator and rattlesnake. The samples I ate were small cubes which were breaded and fried. It happened at a food expo.
I have a problem eating crawfish-- just too disgusting for me.
Maybe if it was small cubes which were breaded and fried I could handle it better.
