I use Avira Antivir after consulting with review sites and independent testing sites (i.e. av comparatives and avtest). Avira rated very high in the independent tests and it had a free version. After examining the difference between the free and the paid one, I chose the free one since the only difference is that the paid one also has anti spyware capabilities which I didn't need. I just needed a plain anti-virus software (I use seprate anti-spyware, firewall and other security programs).

I;ve just switched to Kaspersky Internet Security 7 from Norton Internet Security 2008. I find that Kaspersky is much less of a resource hog than Norton; I can actually use the computer whilst the scan is running. Plus, it found a lot of stuff in zips that Norton didn't.

Hacktool, Backdoor and Trojans. Some various 'wares also. Okay, they weren't in a position to actually threaten my home PC, but it enabled me to find and remove a Backdoor from my main site server.

I am using the home edition of avast! It works for me. There are I think other good anti-virus software available for free. We really need to protect our computer from these virus that can totally damage our computers.

There are other antivirus which are free to use like AVG, AOL Mcafee. But avast is cool. The coolest thing about avast is that you can change skins. Avast sometmes looks like a media player heheh

I too have ESET NOD32 antivirus. I used norton antivirus, but it slows down the system. Then I switched to nod32, and realised that it was as efficient as norton and at the same time does not consume system resource. It is the best antivirus for me.

I am using Avast 4.8 antivirus with the spybot and search destroy from about an year and it is the best for me and detect all the viruses being updated. The main speciality is that it doesn't take that much RAM and hence doesn't effect the processing speed.Initially i was using the Macafee but had a lot of problem with that antivirus. ultimately i installed Avast since then i don't find any problem of viruses in the pc but one thing should be make sure that the antivirus is updated time to time to detect all the virus. The another nice thing is that it updates automatically when you are connected to the internet everytime and new database are installed. Have a nice day!!
