Do you take supplements?

I am constantly reading about how we are not getting enough of certain vitamin, etc. If I were to take all the supplements that these articles tell me I should be taking I would probably be taking about 50 pills a day! I always take my one-a-day vitamin, but it doesn't appear to have all the stuff that I need. Do you take vitamin supplements? If you do which ones to you take and how do they help you?

We take supplements emmasmomma. We have researched this subject and talked to various people, including holistic people and came up with what works for us, based on what the supplements do and how they work together. Here is our regimen. We take 3000 units of Vitamin C each day spread out over the day @ 500 units each. This way, you get all the vitamin C you need without wasting it. In the evening, at bedtime, we take Vitamin B-12 and B-6. They work in conjunction with each other. It doesn't do much good to take one without the other. Along with the two B vitamins and C, we take a mulitvitamin, Vitamin E, 83 mg aspirin, St. John's Wart, and an Omega 3 Fish Oil. We take the collection of vitamins at night. In theory, this give the vitamins a chance (while you sleep) to distribute through your body. When you wake up in the morning, the vitamins are doing what they should, instead of taking them in the morning and waiting for them to work. The C vitamin does a number of things as well as the others. The combination of B vitamins is for energy and mental stability. The vitamin E has many benefits along with being an antioxidant. The St. John's Wart is for mental stability and helps the natural thought process. (It's also good for depression). The Omega 3 Fish Oil is good for a variety of things too. (check them out online). The combination of these vitamins, along with the mulitvitamin assures we get the essential vitamins we should have. We haven't been sick or had a cold in so many years I can't tell you when the last time was we even got the sniffles. My skin is soft and smooth. My nails and hair are healthy and no one believes we are the age we are. We don't take any other medication and our doctor says whatever we are doing, to keep doing it. Of course we try to eat a healthy menu and we try to get as much exercise as we can (given our age and habits) as we can. I have all the energy in the world. We sleep well and I believe the vitamin regime helps keep our minds sharp and alert as well as helping us remain strong and healthy. We both swear by the regime. The regime also keeps a touch of arthritis at bay and keeps me from entering a state of depression, which I have fought most of my life. I hope you find what works for you.

I was taking a womens one a day, but recently switched to the prenatal vitamins. That was the only way I could get everything I needed.

I have taken vitamins and suppliments since I was a teenager. Some work better than others, but I find that I don't feel the same when I have not taken them for any period of time. The vitamins/suppliments I take now have done wonders for me and I'm going to stick with them. They have actually helped my husband get off his cholesterol medication and his high-blood pressure medication. And they're made with more natural ingredients than ones I've taken before, as well as having a patented system to ensure that my body actually absorbs what it needs instead of passing it out of my system.

I just take a multivitamin daily. I've found that when I don't take it, I tend to get sick [e.g. colds and flus] more often.

I only take supplements that are relevant to certain health problems. I know these health problems result in certain deficiencies and if I don't take the supplements, they tend to get worse. But, I generally don't take much more than that. I try to eat the foods that I need to get the right amount of vitamins, but that would mean that I would have to eat twice the amount of what I can eat and that's not good, either.
