Did you graduate from a Career College?

I am currently taking some online courses through distance education with a "Career College". It's fully accreditted and all that stuff. When I went on a job board recently for the career that I'm interested in, the other people who already had jobs in the industry were making fun of the people in these career colleges. Did I miss something? Am I wasting my time? Will I not be able to get a job once I graduate from my course? Is it possible to get a job with a diploma from a career college?
