What will you do with your Stimulus Plan tax rebate check?

It's the billion dollar question, right? The government is encouraging us to buy stuff, put the money back into the economy, etc. They say this will help lift us out of the recession that we may or may not be in (quite frankly, dearest government officials, if you really want to help the economy, lower gas prices. Then the average American will have extra money to spend, since lower gas prices usually mean lower cost of living). But, in reality, most Americans say they will either put their check in a savings account or pay off debt. So, I want to know, what are YOU planning to do with your check?
Mine will go towards paying my bills while I go on unpaid maternity leave in July. If there's any leftover, I may put it towards paying off my truck so I can buy a vehicle that's better on gas.

Well I will not get but $300. it will not go far. With gas as high as it is I will be putting it in my gas tank and trying to buy some food. There will not be much left after that. A little pocket change thats about it.

i have no problem with the franchise fee because its just $500 but i doubting myself if i could do the labor. i have seen a couple of people done it got successful but somehow i feel discouraged coz some people are giving me negative insights about the whole thing...so i might as well rethink the whole thing.

I will buyty new toaster! Mine tore up today.
I am going to apply it to the bills. It will really just help me get caught up a bit. The only thing I plan to buy is a car seat for my son & DIL for their baby that is due in July. I want to make sure she will be very safe.

I'm planning on getting new siding put on my house this summer, so my $600 will be going towards that. Of course, it will only be a percentage of the total cost, but it will cover the new gutters, at least. I think its a good use of the money, since it will be going to a business owned by local people, who employ local workers, who will then spend the money they earn, etc, etc (the way stimulus is supposed to work best).
We thought about using it to buy a new HDTV, but we decided we don't need it (not a bad as new siding, anyway), and it really wouldn't stimulate the economy much, since most of those TVs are made overseas.

good plan.....there are plenty of home improvement things I'd like to do with my check, but again, it's all going to keeping up the bills when I go on maternity leave.....

I had our payment just direct deposited into our savings account. I think we're just going to keep it there to let our savings build up a little. We just bought a new car recently too, so I guess we could maybe put it toward getting ahead a little on the car payments. Right at the moment though, we're just planning on saving it.

That's a good plan, as far as I can see. We are going to trade in my truckfor a nice, gas-saving 2-wheel drive four-banger and save some money in payments, gas, and insurance.

Hah!! I got it on Friday and it's gone, or at least spoken for, already. I used most of it to catch up on some bills we'd been struggling with and what's left will help us get through the next few weeks while I continue to wait and hope and pray my disability comes through before our house gets foreclosed on. Yep, it's going to help the economy, that's for sure. I've already given up my car for the time being because it needed more work than it's worth to pass inspection so at least one of us in our family is saving money on gas because I have nothing to put gas in...lol. Does that qualify as an optimistic attitude?

I am going to get $900 which is a lot for a broke student. LOL. ^_^. The first thing I am going to do is pay off half of one of my credit cards so that i would pay the half another time and then I am going to close it. Wish me luck with that. Then I am going to take my younger brother and sister to the movies and have some fun. I have to buy a new bookbag for next year. I'll probably put $200 into my bank account which will serve me for my books next year. And I am going to buy some clothes for my second younger sister. I already have a whole plan set and hopefully I do get the check because it will really lift some of the burden off of my shoulders for this week.

Sounds like you've out some thought into this. If I didn't need the money for maternity leave, I'd be paying off credit cards as well.

I agree with you.If the goverment would lower gas cost we could put the extra money we have into other items to help maybe boost or country and her economy.I am glad about the extra money becasue I am taking and using mine for a beach trip later this summer...

I'm with you on the bills...lol i will probably buy the kids some more summer clothes, now that is it consistantly nice every day here in Mass. What i don't understand is for a country that makes it's own money, why are we so much in debt? Come on just print a few extra sheets every other day and i'll be good.. =0D
