So you remember when you got your first car? What was so special about it? Did you have to pay for it or did mom and dad pay for it? What are the fondest memories that you have of your first car? Oh and what what the make and model of the car?

I got my first car 3 months before I turned 16 and got my license. It was my stepdad's cousin's car...a 1991 Nissan Maxima. We bought if for $2000, I paid $600, and my parents paid the rest. I remember that the heat took forever to get warm, and the A/C didn't work at all. Thankfully it had a sunroof!

My first car was my boyfriend's car until my step dad got his truck and gave me his geo metro. LOL!! That little car was fun and great. Up until it went bye bye's. LOL!! I think that my car actually had air but my bf's at the time didn't. LOL!!

Well the first car I had that was all my own was when I was married and I bought it myself - it was a Ford Mondeo and it was a used car but only a few years old when I got it! It was special as it was the first car that was mine and only mine and it was treated very well! I even had a single flower vase attatched to the dashboard and there was a fresh flower in there at least once a week! xxx

LOL I'm more laid back! My brother was in the traffic police for years and years and I know he has seen many really awful things because people drove without thinking! I also saw for myself when in the car with him that if I drove at a nice steady pace oftentimes you would end up just behind a car a few miles down the road that had taken a lot of silly risks to pass you. Also I knew that most traffic police in the area knew my car and if they saw me doing anything I shouldn't or if my driving weren't great my brother would know within minutes! That was a huge incentive to drive more carefully! xxx

Wow, a fresh flower and it survived drived on the dash board. LOL!! I don't think even if I superglued a small vase to the dash board it would stay I have been told I drive like Mario Andretti. I have a distinct race factor in my driving. LOL!! I love speed and I have a need for it there fore nothing is on the dash. LOL!!!

Wow that really had to suck. You can be a speed demon and be safe about it. I don't swerve in and out of traffic. If I have clear road or a pace car infront of me going fast then so do I but when I get into heavy traffic I'm cautious. LOL! I love speed but won't endanger myself or others to get where I'm going .. But if I have the opportunity to be a little heavy on the gas then I am LOL!!!.

My first car (four wheels) was a Beetle. Was in Germany at the time in the forces and visited other counties around germany and had a great time. Still an amazing fact today that the Beetle engine is a flat 4 cylinder AIR COOLED engine with no water to aid the cooling like all other engines have to have. Amazing! Have a great day from Deeeky.

It is a rear engine car which has a large internal fan that directs the air over the engine and exhausts plus supplies the heating for the passengers.

Wow what a wonderful bit of information I never knew that about the beetles. Interesting how they don't use water to aid the cooling. I really wonder how it works. Have a nice day. and thanks for the info.

I remember having a first car lol but I really don't remember what model or year it was. I know it was a 70's something for the year. the only thing special about it was the motor. Every guy that looked under the hood was like wow that is an awesome engine. I walked to work until I had enough money saved up to go to the car auction and buy my first car with cash. The down fall of that was the motor locked up with in two months or so of me buying it.

That is why a mechanic is helpful. LOL!! I love to try and get a deal but like you I have learned the hard way to always take your car to a mechanic before purchasing it.

My first car was a 1981 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Wow, what a huge car! But it was really cool and I wish I had it now, restored it would be a great show car. My parents gave it to me when I was 17 and I, unfortunately, wrapped it around a pole when I was 18. We still have pictures of the accident. Fondest memories, though, are of driving my friends around, we had a great time in that car!

I have to say that your not the first person to tell me that they have put their car around a pole. I would have to say my foundest time of having my first car was being able to get to and from work without having to depend on anyone or having to pay their car insurance. LOL!!

Bella, my first car was a Fiat automatic and it had push button transmission. It was cream colored and so compact and cute. My Mom split the cost with me. I worked and saved half and she paid the other half. Oh man I loved that littel car. My Best friend at the time, her brother gave her a 57 chevy for her first ride, NOW there was a CAR... man we would cruise and thought we were just hot Chits :))))

I bought it myself and no one has ever paid anything to keep it running so i guess i know the best why i have it. Although im going to sell it in 3 weeks because im going to live in another country soon.

I was thinking about 15000 EEK since i live in Estonia. I cant take it to Denmark with me so i talked to my brother about selling it. He can ask more if he can but i want to get 15k and the rest he can keep for himself. Anyway when im settled in Denmark i will get a new car, probably something similar because i like cars like that.

Bella, I was 23 years old before I got my license and my first car. It was a 1970 Toyota Corona, a very boxy little thing, a nondescript beige, and I loved it! It had Toyo-glide! Which just means smooth shifting or something, I think - it was an automatic - no stick shifts for me, thank you very much. I paid $900 for it, and I paid for it myself, of course, at that age. I think I drove it for about 3 years or so before I was smashed beyond repair by a huge, nasty Monte Carlo, at an intersection a half block from my house one night, coming home from the bar. It was a hit and run. My hood was pancaked, looked like a tent. I broke my head open on the window frame and ended up with stitches and I still have a scar from it on my forehead. I loved that car and remember it very fondly. It's name was Honeydew. I always name my cars.

ha ha my first car was when i was like 18 which was only 2 years ago. it was a 1985 buick skylark. it only cost like $300 and was basically all i could afford. it was a really old and crappy car, but it got me to work, school, and to my boyfrinds house and wherever else i had to be. for being over 20 years old, the car ran pretty decent. i finally got sick of it and got a 97. still old but big upgrade for me. lol and no fond memories. lol just glad i could get outa the house whenever i felt like it and i did alot.
