Just be there for them. Ultimately they are going to have to cheer themselves up, no one can do it for them!

Cheesecake or chocolate always cheer me up. You might want to go see a funny movie, too. Exercise always lifts the spirits, so if the person who is upset likes a particular sport, challenge him or her to a match, or take him or her for a walk or a hike.

i think the best thing to cheer up someone would be to take them out someplace - maybe for a funny movie or something - offer them some chocolate - and make funny faces maybe i guess it all depends on how close you are to this person if you guys are really close -then probably just the fact that youre trying desperately to cheer them up (by making ridiculous faces and such) would make them laugh

Fix them their favorite meal. And then spend some time talking with them if they want to talk, and then go from there.

Find out what their favorite dessert is, and fix that for them, and take it to them.

Something sweet..not necessarily chocolate but something sweet. Scientifically proven. It doesnt reallly cheer up the person but it boost up their body to push them to feel light

It does depend on why the person is upset of course, and whether there is anything concrete you can do to help. Also whether the person is upset over something small or whether it is a depression sort of upset. You can be there to listen to them if they are upset over something that you cannot change but being a support is often as important as anything else. You could take them to see a funny movie, or even hire a DVD and show it at home, where you can both be comfortable. Some chocolates always go down nicely and also chocolate contains something that makes the "feel good endorphins" work, which they aren't doing when a person is depressed or upset. So chocolates are always a help. If the person is tired and upset but needs a break from the family, including children, take the children off their hands for a few hours or even overnight for a sleep-over if that is possible. If your friend is a close friend, who is just tired and this is causing the upset, then a good night's sleep is often helpful to see things more clearly. That means a night without children underfoot but in a place where she knows they will be okay.

your suggestion is clear and I think I will give it a try to look after her children for a night so she can has a good night sleep without worrying about her children.

I don't know about you but how do I cheer my friends up? Buy them some kinda comfort food in ridiculous amount and eat them together. LOL Another good way to destress or cheer anyone up is to gather a few friends and go paintballing. Shooting people is fun, as long as it doesn't kill.
