I usually take the medecine as I always had to work for a living but now that I am retired I tend not to go to the doctor so much as I take over the counter medecines to ease the symptoms.
I am a nurse aide and sometimes we all get the "bug" and the treatment is a lot of fluids and rest and the aspirin or Pepto Bismo to ease our pains or stomach ache.
But if I have too high of fever or my blood pressure goes up to high..then it is a matter for a doctor...I would not try to be my own doctor.

by the way..being sick is not an excuse where I worked...the bosses would roll there eyes when you called in "sick" even though you get a doctors slit the bosses would just think you were goofing off...I seen a lot of people come to work sick when they should have stayed home and all they did was spread the "disease" to other people by touching stuff like the keyboard of a computer or the phone..These two things have more germs then the toilet as they are hardly ever cleaned properly.
Even as a nurese aide you should not expose your patients but this is often ignored as the nursing stafff is always short on good help..that is why I don't do this for a living..its too demanding and the average age of a nurse is in the 50's

Whoa, that's some confession. I would think that doctors would be more considerate about spreading the germs. I guess there was a shortage of employees at your job or you were a particularly good one and they didn't want to miss you:)

Whoa, not even a discussion! I do go to work when sick but the day just seems to drag by and I'm afraid I'm not very productive at those times lol

well some small episodes of sickness do not require any medications and they go away by themselves... but sometimes you do require some medications that you do at the home ....but sometimes when you suffer from some major ailments then you have to go to the doctor... or else you may suffer more.

Yeah,I remember being sick once,it seemed like regular cold but then the fever jumped up. My friends had to call the ambulance for me... So yeah, you can take it easy with minor issues but when something serious comes up it's better to see a professional

I agree with you on that one, most people take meds at any given occasion and later that medicine doesn't for them anymore

I normally take medicine because otherwise I'm totally miserable, and can't get anything done. Even if it's the weekend, I still like to be able to get things done and not just lay around.

Doctor recommended, yeah. I'm feeling a bit down at the moment, think I might have a fever but I'm gonna let my body fight it:)
