When it comes to discussions,do you care about quality or quantity?

So many people set their goals here on MyLot,for example,to make 50 posts a day or to start 20 new discussions. I wish I had this kind of ambitions and I might develop them in time but I find it difficult to post about stuff I'm not interested in. What matters to you?

Can my answer be both? I do set quantity goals, but as long as I'm contibuting good quality, I'm happy whether or not I reached that goal.
When I post discussions, they are intended to return responses I am curious about, looking for in other aspects of my life, or for encouragement. They are never about quantity.

Yes I agree. I have a couple of pages of my own discussions, but several have no responses, that kind of makes me sad. But oh well. I have fun participating in others' discussions as well.
So, how long have you been here?

A little more than a week:) You?
I got some discussions with no responses,as well and I'm not very sad about it. First of all,you might still get some good responses later and second, maybe that wasn't a good time to ask that question. I'm sure you've experienced that a lot, sometimes the same topic is a blast on one day and total blah the other day. What can you do?...

I try to do the same and find out more about the questions I'm interested in but it would be nice to have both, I mean to be able to produce a great deal of great posts :)

hello, i would say quality. i rather have three or four posts a day than engage in something i don't like. true we are all here because mylot pays us to do what we want. so why not do what you really want. and for me changing opinions with other people and learning in the process is better than engaging in a non-sense topic.

That's how I feel about making money online, period. I'm already addicted to Internet, why not get paid for it?:))))

Ever since I came here, I always value quality posting as much as possible. Quality depends on other's members perspectives, but I always make sure that I always put my best description on every discussion or post I make.
I also dropped the thought of having a goal here, because it will only ruin my day or make me stick more on the net and won't have enough time to finish my work off-line.
Of course, we should always put in mind that should only respond to what we are aware and knowledgeable of..

I respect your honesty,at least you admit that you left all thought of goals:) As you've said, our goal here should be quality posts or at least something we're interested in or knowledgeable of

For me, it's all about the quality. I would rather do 2 lengthy, quality posts of real substance then 200 one line posts that add little to nothing to the conversation.
I have two reasons for this.
1) If I'm going to be discussing something online, or in person, I want to be detailed and I want to contribute something (for better or worse, dependent on the opinion of the other person) of value to the discussion, debate, what have you. I would feel just super silly if I simply responded with something short, lacking in substance, and/or pretty meaningless to the discussion.
2) Mylot seems to pay more based on length, punctuation, substance, and quality. So, the people who are here specifically to make a little extra cash would do well to stop setting goals in the arena of number of posts, and start setting goals based on quality of content and length of posts. Furthermore, for those of us who are not here specifically to make money, it's much nicer to see someone really add to the discussion with detailed stories, experiences, knowledge, advice, etc. And, you really can't get a whole lot from someone who responds to you with a one sentence response to a discussion that called for a bit of description or thought.
But, that's just my 2 cents. So, take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks for an excellent response! In this case you replied with a lot of thought to one-sentenced post:)

Very well said pangeacat! and AnakSuNamun your one sentence discussion starter was very detailed and specific. It has obviously made several people stop and think and post intelligent answers. That's the kind of discussion starters I like whether they're two paragraphs of one sentence. :)

well dear I think both the aspects are equally important.I try to make a balance by maintaining quality along with the number of postings as well. you know what friend my lot is such a wonderful place that once you start with this you just dont want to leave it.

It is but how do you feel about some people just copying and pasting all the time? I have no problem with that but they should at least add their own opinion, right?

On my first day at mylot, i thought it's quantity that counts. Then I knew from other people that it's the quality that counts. So now, I respond to discussions which most interest me so that I would be able to post a response of good substance.

i really think this is the best way of dealing with it. It is much better to answer 10 responses well than 100 poor ones. I guess we will never accurately know how mylot work out the payments but i know mylot do not pay for poor quality
blessed be

when i first joined mylot i used to set targets of 100 or even 200 posts a day. It was great but soon i began to realise there are other things to do with our time. As a rule now i answer the discussions i have something to add too otherwise i dont bother
Consequently, i manage maybe 10 responses a day, lol.
blessed be

I prefer quality. I have learned to type fast so that I can have both though LOL. I won't just give generic answers just to raise my post count though, I only answer if I have something of substance to say about the topic. Some days I just have no ambition or interest what-so-ever and I don't try to pretend I do. Other days, like today, I can't seem to stop! I keep saying...two more posts, 5 more minutes...but then 5 more minutes got me close to a certain number and I had to keep going...and then a few more posts got me within reach of another goal...and now hear I am almost to 4100...how great would that be to hit that today when I wasn't expecting to reach it until tomorrow!

Maybe you'll get used here in Mylot and then you'll be able to post 50 responses a day or start several discussions. I set a goal of at least 20 posts per day but with QUALITY. I don't respond to a discussion just to increase the number of posts I have. I respond or start a discussion because I have something to share and to say and the topic caught my attention. I think that's like one of the secrets of enjoying and earning here in Mylot. Cheers and good luck! :)

20 posts don't sound bad and I'm sure I'll find topics that interest me but it's a bit discouraging to see so many similar questions every day :) Thank you!

Discussions should be thorough and clear so that others can understand better. What's the use of discussing things if others can't get what you mean? I mean, it's better to post response to discussions which is clear and thorough and understandable to avoid confusions or misunderstanding.

Definitely but I've seen people post vague questions in order to get everyone intrigued. Seems like that policy works for them

I do a bit of both. I try and make a lot of quality posts. I hate it when people reply with something pointless like "Thanks for replying" but then again I have started to do that, because I have seen discussion where people get pissed off if no one replies to their post.

I'm trying to reply with something that comes from myself but it's not very easy when we all agree on the same topic and the right words have already been said:)

for me, quality is more important than quantity because it is useless to participate in discussions if your main goal is only to just post something.

Mylot I think is all about quantity when we go for just quality I think that effects are rating for quality answers can be given just in a line or too but I don't think mylot will take that lightly for I think the administrator here wants quantitive response and not one liners for a answer.

well when it comes to responding to posts, i usually go for quality but sometimes i respond one-liners too, just so that i can reach 500 posts faster! (cant wait to be able to copy and paste!) but most of the time if i cant contribute something of value to the topic, i skip it. btw, love your pic! just saw the movie kill bill a couple of days ago, it was ok, and i remember gogo! i liked the scene where she killed the geeky-looking guy in the bar who wanted to "screw" her.hehe.

yeah, gogo really kicked some *ss on that kill bill movie, of course with the exception of uma thurman's *ss, LOL the role really suited her, and she's cute too LOL. well it will be more convenient if we can copy and paste so that if we are offline, we can just type what we wanna type in notepad and then paste it later when we are online. and then, there's also the added convenience where we can just copy and paste news articles like most people do here in mylot to start a discussion.

Yeah, would be nice to copy and paste, not because I wanna abuse that right,it's just sometimes one needs to prove one's point with more than own words

Hello there AnakSuNamun (nice name there), as for me, I try my best to answer to friends' discussions, but I would look for the most interesting title that I would love to answer or something which crossed my mind as being interesting. It might not be something which I'm really good at, but just in case I have something to contribute to the topic, I might just add a small comment to others mentioning about it.
This happens should I have something to answer to or not. Otherwise, I would just read whatever is there and skip the discussions.
Good discussion here. I find it a good way to answer a discussion that uses my mind to think for a bit. Have a good day there.

I found what i posted here get less responses than any one else~
I did try to post some quality ones but only a few replied so i stop and began to respond to others' posts in stead of post here.
Quality is very important, otherwise your responses will look like kinda Spam , or you're simply just "POST". If you only care about quantity but bot quality, you'll soon find posting or responding here is rather boring then you gonna leave soon.
Have a nice day and enjoy quality :-)

If I don't have something to say that I feel will be of some benefit or interest to someone else I don't see any use posting. Yeah, I want to get my numbers up, yes, I want to make some money. . .don't we all? But to post for the sake of meeting a goal without any quality of content is just NOT what mylot was originally set up to be.
