Is there a certain way you organize your movie collection? I have about a hundred movies in my collection. To easily find the one I am looking for I keep them in alphabetical order. It just makes finding the one I want so much easier! My friends think I'm crazy. What do you think? How do you organize yours?

I have mine organised in such a way that I'm positive I'm the only person who would be able to find anything quickly. :) I've contemplated putting them in alphabetical order but the thought of my favourites being hidden down the bottom bothered me too much. :/ I've got 3 shelves dedicated to tv shows (one show takes up a whole shelf, then I have a shelf for medical/police type tv shows and the third for all other tv shows.) Two shelves for music dvds (1 favourite artists, the other all the rest.) Movies is where it would get confusing for most when it comes to my collection. For the most part I have them shelved according to how much I like them. My favourites are up higher than all the others. Then on each shelf they are bundled into my own little genres (no real official genres as that just gets way too confusing.) So I've got something like childhood favourites (Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz etc), my favourites in my favourite actor/actress'. Then I've got my natural disaster type movies, dance/music related movies etc. It seems to work for me and my mother doesn't have much trouble finding things when she is raiding my collection. :)

i've got tons of dvds and audio cds as well. before, i use to arrange these by genre and the the titles are arranged alphabetically. this worked for a while but to avoid confusion, i stuck with arranging my collection alphabetically.i found out that it was easier to keep it organized that way.
i also keep the discs of the movies that i regularly watch in disc bags. this one i don't have to keep opening/closing the disc case. i do the same thing for my audio cds.
hope this helps.

Hi! You have a really huge movie collection!^_^ In that case I agree with you. Arranging it in alphabetical order really is so much easier. Its easier to organize and easier to find. You can do without organizing them by category because I think a lot of people have different takes on a single movie. And of course there are those movies that just doesnt belong to only one category so that would be a problem not to mention a lot of headaches. My movie collection is not that great so I can still keep track of them. I usually arrange in them as my latest acquisition or the oldest. This works for me because I tend to remember which movie I had first and if I need to find a specific one, I can remember what goes before and after that particular movie. The position of it also helps me, like I remember it being on the far left ide then I go from there. Anyways, have fun going over your movie collection again. enjoy!^_^

Well me and my boyfriend have at least 300 dvds. We have 3 things we keep them in but we're running out of room. I'm thinking of building a few shelves so that I can hang them on the wall and have them there. I know it's about how you arrange them so I'll tell ya. I put them all in alphabetical order. If it's not in alphabetical order I can't handle it. I'm really OCD about that. I have a lot of dvds that I've made myself so I have to make cases for them now so I can tell what they are without having to look through them all.
