I leave my computer on 24/7. I do turn my monitor off though. My son said it doesn't hurt the computer to leave it on. He says that he does turn his monitor off though. The screen savers are for the monitors and he says he doesn't use screen savers simply by turning the monitor off.

My son has been using and building computers for a very long time and I asked him the same thing. He said it doesn't bother the computer to leave it on. It doesnt' bother the processer or hard disk. They don't get heated up. I trust my sons opinions and I leave my computer on all the time and have been doing this for a very long time now. My computer always works great.

leaving the computer on 24/7 wont affect your hardware but it will affect the software or any application your using. applications that needed to be updated on a daily basis. If youre just using the internet it wont affect you that much but in a about a week or so your pages or whenever you browse a page you'll get "page cannot be found" this will be your cue to shutdown you computer or do a cold boot to erase or clear the cache.
