Have you ever tried sea salt for seasoning? It is better for us I think and it draws out flavor like salt. I love the plastic griner set that has sea salt and pepper from Trader Joes. Do you sea salt your food?

I must admit that I have used salt most when I visit my friend's house and he gives me his spicey Indian food. I find that when there is no yougert, no sour cream, no milk or anything else to take away the heat, using some salt does tone down the heat enough to make it edible. I also add it to food as I am preparing it although it is usually a very small pinche that I put into the food I make as I ma not much into salt. For some reason, I have the image of of of my mothers best friends who one day went with my mother and I to go to eat. This woman had a tendency to salt her food before she tasted it as food was "never salty enough for her," she said. That day however, my mother and I tasted our soup that had not been salted and found it to be salty. My mother's friend, without tasting the soup, poured salt on top of it and told us that we were wimps when it came to salt. Then she tasted her food and found it too salty to eat. My mother and I laughed and our friend got another cup of soup, and without salting it, proclaimed it just right.

I use sea salt in place of regular salt. I have heard that it is better for us and you do not have to add as much of it as you do regular salt. I buy mine at any Wal-mart or any other grocery store. I always get them in a grinder.

Excellent point about quantity and that with sea salt you use less seasoning. Thank you for sharing!

I always use salt to season food, even sweets. It always brings out the flavors. :]

I have learned something new. I would not have thought to add sea salt to sweets. Well done!

I have never heard of sea salt before. Does it taste like regular salt? Where do you buy it at? The local grocery store? I salt alot of food to give it flavor. Please tell me more about sea salt.

It does taste like salt. It is susualy found in health food departments or stores. Do you have a grocery store near you that has a healthfood/organic section? I bet you will find some there in the seasoning area.

no! i don't salt my food ever! I hate salt, and cannot stand it. my g/f loves salt, and she salts everything! It drives me nuts to see her sitting there shaking the salt container thing like crazy and having about a TON of salt laying there on her food. now that she does that, she has high blood pressure from the cause of doing that. LOL
