What's The Deal?

I've been a member of many PTC's for a few years now, as of recently I've noticed many sites are either banning or placing restrictions on Chinese members. 
I understand the administration of these sites are free to do and allow who they please, but I'm just confused about what's going on in the PTC community that is focusing so much on not allowing Chinese members.
Anyone care to share the full story on this?

Thanks for making uninformed members like myself aware of this change. I hadn't heard about it. When did this occur...and who is banning them. Mylot? What about the members who are already here from China...how do they work that out? I have some really valued people on my friend's list from China...surely they are not being banned?
I was just about to sign off but wanted to add to a discussion of yours when I saw this one. As I said I am clueless on the situation...but will definitely come back tomorrow to see that others have added to this rather disturbing turn of events.
When I read your response you have presented things in the way I see it too. There are cheaters in every country and across the board in all societies. This seems very prejudicial and I pose the same question you have..."WHAT IS THE DEAL...and WHY"

Thanks for clarifying that for me. That is the challenge in commenting on something that when you don't have all the answers. However, even though they are not doing it on Mylot I am in total agreement with your position. Anything that makes sweeping 'global' judgments against others because of the actions of a 'few' IS something to take a stand against.
Glad you are the one doing it. That is just one the great things about this site...informative, fun, social...and certainly supportive.
David and I are in Winnipeg tomorrow so I do not expect to have much time before or after we leave. However, I will be keying away Wednesday and Thursday and hope we can chat again then.
Take care...try to get some rest...and please be as good to yourself as you are to others.

If someone wants to tick me off, that's the way to do it, by treating others unfairly.
I know these sites weren't setting out to tick me off, but well I think you get the point.
There's been several people that I know, have canceled their accounts at these sites, for just that reason. And I've now made it a point to only join up with one, provided they still let everyone join, and just ban those that are cheating.
Granted I know it's most likely a chore to keep a site cheater free, but for every cheater banned a new one arises from their fallen comrades ashes, and it will be an ongoing battle for as long as these sites are available.

Hi again..
How are things with you since our last chat? I was away for 5 days again because I just landed another column...with the Manitoba Bison Association on their up and coming website. YES! Every little bit of promotion helps...always good for any writer's portfolio.
I appreciate that you are taking a stance on this problem and doing your part to help others become more aware of what is going on. I would have never known. Yep...why we love Mylot. Sharing ideas, shoring each other up...cheering each other on...and staying more informed. Gotta luv it...and we both know we do!
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. We are...did a little yard work...caught up on e-mails and our gal-pal is coming over for dinner in the next hour. Ah yes...life is good...hope things improve for you and yours soon.
