Online dating sites, do they work?

What do you think of online dating sites? Do they work? and if not, why? I joined a lot of them in the past and joined a new one recently. I haven't had any good results with any of them. I just use the free ones. I see the same people there year after year, so it seems they don't work very well. What do you think?

Would you actually date someone that you just met on the internet? It is scary enough when you can check their background a little bit through mutual friends, but through the internent its a free for all. How do you know you aren't hooking up with a nut case?

Yes that is the main problem with me and internet dating. I have only decided to meet a few. These were local and only in a public place I was known at. Also get their name address, phone no. I also go as far as making sure someone else is at the house if I decide to have them come here. Most of them I have talked to on messenger seem to be messed up, wanting to meet too quick, overly jealous when you haven't even met, or just plain freaky. I've about quit messing with it unless it's local where I can check them out before wasting time weeding out the weird ones. I've met a few local people who were ok as friends though.

i haven't tried any of these, i do not think they do work, actually its still needs a lot of work to do actually after you meet someone and it doesnt end in you meeting them. so it might not work for some or most people because maybe they have not done anything to make that meeting someone flourish.

I think that they really do work for alot of people. I have heard that some people have met their soul mate with them. I have also heard that some people think they have met the right one but it wasn't a good thing for them down the road also.

I've personally never tried one. I have a aunt that has tried one and a uncle that tried e harmony for two years. He had a couple of dates but nothing serious. He is really picky though. Personally from what I've heard it sounds like a pretty good program.
