Surely its just not me...This is not the first time. There is a fly flying around and as soon as I grab the flyspray it disappears...I put the flyspray away and it comes back....Does this happen to you, and why does this happen..Im sure its hiding somewhere having a great laugh at me..

Whenever I inadvertantly leave the door open a blowie usually comes in. Nothing is so annoying as a ruddy big blowie buzzzzzzzing around. I keep my fly swatter handy but as soon as it is close and I raise the swatter the blasted fly zooms off. I really hate fly spray. There is a big window near me and I just love it when the wretched thing bangs into the window and drops to the bottom where there is in the vicinity a spider who is employed by me to trap the bugger as quickly as possible. It's the high point of my day when this happens. I get to have the last cackle, err, I mean laugh.

No Calais, you are definitely not the only one. It happens here all the time. And yes, I believe they are sitting smugly, watching with a big smile on their face until you put the spray away again. A certain brand have even made it easier for them to hide in time, too, by adding a ball bearing to some of their fly sprays. How do you sneak up, while shaking the can thats rattling like a spray paint???

No, its not just you. I have the same problem. sometimes, i think i will outsmart them, but NO, them stupid little things work it out. I just wish they were never invented. Same goes for them mossies that seem to know when you go to bed and start buzzing near your ear but you can never find them if you turn the lights off. Its a conspiracy. they are all trying to take over from us.
best wishes to you, calais, and take care

Hello Calais!
I believe you are not alone with flies hiding, and laughing at us in hiding, only to reappear later and refresh their fun tricks at our expense.
They play hide and seek with me too and not only them but also the mosquito. My partner used to alert me whenever she saw a fly or mosquito and even though I have felt their presence myself, I would pretend that they are not there if I was unable to find in first glance. Looks on her face were just so precious to watch as she looked frustrated on these clever creature who, first, intruded and then to top it all, hid when she was trying to show me. And, while looking at her face, my eyes were on alert to sense any movement but I think these things know that we are looking!:-)
