This is a story about celebrity who is elected as a governor thru democratic election held recenly in West Jawa, Indonesia. His name is Dede Yusuf. He is one of prominen celebs in Indonesia. He gets involve in various activities, such action-films, karate-dramas, advertising, televesion-cinema, and many more. He will be the first celebrity turned governor ever happened in Indonesia. People vote him because they give their trust to him; it means people dont trust politicians anymore. If this trend goes longer, than Indonesia will witnessess there are many celebrities who will enter political flora in the near future.

Well, that may not be such a bad thing. In the USA, we've seen Ronald Regan become the President and to be fair to Regan, he managed to create a more vibrant economy and helped lay the foundations to the end of the Cold War. Now we have Arnold Schwarznegger as Governor of California. Todate, the man has managed to do a fairly respectable job as governor, much better than Grey Davis, his predecessor. So, when you look at these two examples, its not such a bad thing that Indonesia has shown political maturity (and I'm from Singapore and quite happy for you guys accross the Indian Ocean) and voted for someone outside the mainstram political parties.

You are right, man. But to compare Indonesian achievement to America, I think, is not relevant. America is a matured power with establised economy and political system, while Indonesia is still searching for her pattern, a right pattern that is expected could accomodate the people need in democratic proces. Dede Yusuf cant be compared to Ronald Reagan, or Arnold Schwarznegger.
