Grades are the first thing. Then I would not buy my son a car I would tell him that I would help him only if he had saved up at least half of the money for the car and then I would help kids today have to know about buying cars and paying the insurance and everything that goes with it. I dont think that a kids first car should be a new one they should have a junker for thier first car because we all know they will reck it at some point.

You are so right! My mother back in the days bought a second hand car and learned how to drive. Then she taught my brother and I how, to drive when I was 12 years old. She got my drivers premit at the age of 14 years and from then till now I'm driving and never course an accident God Bless. Most times when she go away for short vacations trips she would leave me with the keys for the house and car and my brother is three years older than me and his friends would tease him about his baby sister having the responsiblity of everything. But I was very mature at an early age because, I was thought that way.

i wouldn't i had to earn my own car. i was 25 by the time i bought my firt car and i did it all on my own and that made me feel more proud than anyone just giving me a car.

At 16 I had a part time job so I helped pay for my first car. However my parents both both my brother and sister their first cars.
I think that there needs to be more of a reason than just getting good grades as this should be something your daughter should do anyway

I agree completly If my daighter is doing everything she is suppose to be doing then I dont see the problem with it. but it will be a USED vehicle I dont see any sence in buying a child a brand new car . They are more than likely going to totall it out. unless your going to have full coverage on it, And more than likely you'll be the one helping out with that. I just hate to see a brand new car be given to a first time driver.

No definatley not personally I want my children to learn that they wont just get things bought for them but they have to work for them and earn them.
How will they learn how expensive owning a car is if the very first hurdle of them purchasing one is made so easy for them by me?
