What is/was the most insulting gift you've ever received from your mother-in-law? How was you able to handle the awkard situation?

I guess im lucky I have never got anything insulting although she did by me a nightgown once and I said it was a cute dress she did not like that too much lol. It was a wedding gift ment for my hubby to enjoy and here I am wanting to wear it in public lol. I dont ever wear it as it is not my style but I wont tell her that.

Lol...she meant well! At least you were nice enough not to tell her that you wouldn't wear it in the bedroom, but it would be fine in public..too funny!

I cannot for the life of me remember one singel thing my mother in law has given me that I felt was insulting. Not one. She is a very good gift-shopper. She remembers what people say they'd like during the year and buys that for their birthdays. She is a peace-loving woman that only wants the best for everyone. There really are no insults in her I don't think.

Well, that is someting that I don't have to worry about because my inlaws do not give out gifts. They have 10 children, lost count of how many grandchildren - although it's a least 35, and 2 great grand children. So, they stopped gift giving to the family a long time ago. Although, she and my sister-in-laws gave me a pressure cooker at my bridal shower. I thought my mother was going to fall over, because in my family, we never used one because my mom always said they were dangerous. I think she had one explode on her when she was young. I will be honest and say that I never used it, but my husband has. I prefer using my crock pot.

Thats a pretty big family! I can see why they don't give out gifts. I wouldn't use a pressure cooker either. I would much rather have a crock pot.

My mother in law has always bought me fabulous and well chosen gifts, but my ex father in law always bought the strangest things. Once he bought me one of those rally cheap framed prints of a sports car with a half naked woman draped over it. Erm, why would I be interested in a half naked woman? It was one of those prints that is so bad and garish that I laugh at them when I see them in the cheap shops. And once he bought me a multi pack of really cheap sports socks which was also a bit of a puzzler as I don't ever wear them. I couldn't even give them to my husband as he wouldn't wear them either!
