You cannot design an interview and you don't have the ability to be the one to select which topic would you want to talk about during the interview. Regarding dressing, wear the best that you have. It will tell a lot about you. Be confident and composed. Of course, you need to be sure of your answers. Good luck to you on your job hunting!

The basic rule is that you dress "one step better" than you would if you have the job. For most people, it means wearing a conservative suit. You want to dress conservatively with traditional clothes and jewelry. Don't wear perfume, either. I once went to an interview where the person who would have been my boss was high allergic to perfumes.
If you are going for an artistic type of job, you have a little more leeway and can add a little color to your wardrobe. But, again, keep it on the conservative side.

I have also had the experience of going to an interview where the interviewer was highly sensitive or allergic to fragrances, strange.

I always try to keep my interview outfit simple, basic, and clean. For example my last few interviews I have worn gray pants, a black button up shirt and black kitten heels. It's simple and classic. I think it is important to make sure that your interview outfit fits you but isn't tight, when your clothes don't fit you properly it is distracting to people. I also make sure that jewelry is minimal, make up isn't to loud, and my hair is done but somewhat conservatively. (example, I have short hair and usually use a straighting iron to straiten it and flip out a bit on the ends, for an interview I don't do the flipping thing on the ends as this could make seem young and that tends to get coupled with immature not good for an interview)
It's also important that what you do where makes you feel confident because you have to be confident in the interview to get the job, although even that doesn't always work sometimes there are those that are more qualified than you but that's a whole other topic there.

dear xiaowen187 First of all it is not known to me from where you are. I am guessing that you are from chiana. Dressing for a job interviwe depends upon the culture of different countries and also for gender which you have not mentioned in your topic. But widely common accepted dress code for male & female varies. But as far I am concerned the following should be dress for job interview:
FOR MALE:
1) Shirt-Pant with colour combination. Always use light colour like white, pink, sky blue, off white etc.Use jacket if it is winter.
2) Use neck tie
3) combing your hair properly. Before entering into the interview room brush your hair and hair style should be sober. Also use hanky before entering into the interview room to give fresh look in the face.
4) Use shoe & shocks no sleepers/chappal.
5) Keep a pen in you shirt's pocket as it is a sign of elegant nature
For female:
1) Salwar-Kameez with dupatta
2) Now a days you can wear shirt pant also with neck tie
3) In India female candidate can wear their traditional saree with blouse but I think female are liking to wear salwar suit or pant shirt which is most comfortable and good looking from the point of view of smartness.
3) Make up should be light no eye-catcher or aggressiveness

since we are in different countries, i think my expeience should be different with ur country.. for me, keep everything moderate.. u cannot wear slipers or t-shirt (even though u coming for cleaner/janitor).. atleast put something that people usually wear for work.. in malaysia, the best dress is 'baju kurung' our traditional clothes. for ur country, its better to get 2 pices suit.. make sure ur hair is tidy, no extravangance excesory..
for make up, basic blusher (for fresh look) and gloss should be ok.. shoes, not too height..
