What do you think of hardcore/screamo music?

Do you listen to it or not? Do you think it all sounds the same? I personally like hardcore and screamo type music. A lot of the time I dont actually know what the person screaming is saying but it gets me pumped up and usually in a good mood. I cannot listen to it for too long though because it will give me a headache.

I like alot of music from this genre, since I'm in a metal band myself. I dunno what your going on about headaches though, obviously your not experienced enough yet :P
I also find that after hearing loads of screamo I'm pretty good at understanding what is being said.. does anyone else find that?

Thats awesome. Metal ftw! Well .. Yeah I have some friends that dont get headaches from it. You might be right I dont know. I have been listening to this type of music for about 3 years but its not what I listen to for the majority of the time I am listening to music. Usually I am listening to metal or alternative rock. I think you have a point. Though, are you saying that you can listen to music that is pure screaming or very close (at a high volume) and not get a headache? If so that is cool and I guess you must be very experienced :P For the last part .. I know some people like that and I get a little better at it as well.

That kind of music will definitely get you arouse. So i am not good in listing to such kind of music

Heh. Please explain more. Do you mean that that kind of music gets you too "pumped up" or hyper or something?

Some of it is ok. But to me I can't understand what they are saying most of the time and that I don't like. But there are still some bands out there that I can understand atleast.

I like some hardcore and sceramo music. Some of it does sounds a lot alike. I guess it really depends on the band! Like yourself after a while it give me a headache and I have to stop listening it it for a while. I can catch some of the words that they are saying. If I can't I just looks for the lyrics!! That also helps a lot too! I usually listen to it, if I'm really mad or P.O. and want to get all my anger out. It helps alot too!!

some of the hardcore emo/screamo stuff is good music, it usually has good guitar riffs and a good drummer. Some of it is crappy and simply screaming which is not so good in my opinion.
Anyways nowadays I listen to it sometimes but I am more into rock that is a tad less hardcore.
Being a guitarist I want to hear some good guitar in back. I do not think it is all the same and most of it is original.
I do think old metal is better music as the guys played guitar so well, just listen to saxon or metallica, great bands.

I agree very much. I am not a guitar player like you but I am a drummer. In hardcore and screamo music they definatly have some good drumming (double kick!) as well as guitar playing! :) But I agree with you that I prefer rock that is down a notch or so and old metal is great I would have to agree! Metallica ftw by the way :D

I love listening to it as long as the headphones are stuck in my ear on deafening volume. I listen to it when I'm happy, sad, angry, or bored. Sometimes I never really understand what they're screaming, but when I really loved a song, I search for the lyrics online.
Alesana and Bless the Fall are special favorites... It's melancholic, with very deep lyrics, and nice screams.

Cool cool. Im not sure if Ive ever heard Alesana or not. BlessTheFall I LOVE though they are a great band. You have a good point, it can be melancholic with good lyrics and screams. This one song by BlessTheFall .. the singer is pretty whiny I forget what song it is but its still good.
