Ladies: How do you keep your nails?

Do you keep your nails short and clean, or long and painted, and covered with rhinestones? Do you visit a manicurist regularly? What do you do to keep your nails in tip top condition? Are your nails always in a state of readiness for an impromptu party invitation? I keep my nails the length of a french manicure. I don't visit a manicurist(I think they charge too much!) but I would love to paint my nails regularly. It has became impossible to maintain such a habit with the chores I have to do, crafting, typing....

I keey my nails short since I have a tendency to bite them if it's long. That's my bad habit that up to now I'm having trouble to get rid of. If I want a long nails, I have artificial ones that are french manicured. All I have to do is glued it on my original nails and voila! I have a long french manicured nails :)

Does gluing on fake nails spoilt our natural nails and cuticles? I am so afraid of that happening I never got around to try.

Well, the max that you can let the fake nails stay in your fingernails is 10 days. After that you have to remove it.

I dont do much with my nails as they always break while Im at work. I keep them short and do file them. I dont paint my nails as I find that when I do, I scrape some off it off and therefore am always having to touch them up. Its less hassle to go natural. I have seen some people with mega long nails and wonder if they are real or fake and also how do they manage to do things without breaking them???

I wonder about the same thing myself! I had an ex-colleague who had nails that were so long they curl around, much like the lady who was in the Guiness Record for the longest nails.

I keep my nails a little bit long with nailpolish. I always put nailpolish especially on my toenails because if it's bare, I feel like I'm naked too. hehehe.. And it breaks easily, very vulnerable without it.

Wow, you must be an expert at painting nails! What irks me is that I always end up painting my cuticles, and the surfaces of the nails are not smooth like professionally done ones.

My Grandfather - from my father's side
Hi there catmint! I just keep my nails short and clean. Having long nails isn't advisable because we have kids to take care of at home. My sona nd my nephew. I also do the dishes usually so it will be very hard to maintain long and painted nails. I used to have that when I was in college though. I just clean my nails myself. I only go to a manicurist for about once a month.

Now my finger nails are long, maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it will be short. I wish I could maitain a long finger nails but I do chores that breaks it. Whenever I can, I polish it by myself to keep it strong. I always use colorless or skin toned colors for polishing it. With our without polish, my finger nails are always clean.

I keep my nails small and clean and have a kid and cannot afford to keep longer ones. Earlier during my teens I used to regularly clean my nails and changed nailpaints every 10 days. Now being a mom no long nails. Yes for my toe nails I always use some good brown colour nail paints. I do not visit manicurist but often get pedicure done.

Same here, my hands are just too active to keep manicured all of the time, but French tips are my favorite. I don't glue on rhinestones, but I have a thing for glow in the dark nail polish. I try to find it on sale after Halloween and use it all year long.

i must admit that nails are the hardest to keep in tip top condition espacially if you do multiple tasks such as house keeping and poultry farming. i keep mine short and i manage sometimes to put on a colourless polish to improve the appearence!

I cut them when they get in the way, and file them to make sure they're not rough. But that's where it ends. I don;t paint them, or grow them for any aesthetic reasons - just to keep them practical for work, and clean for hygiene... I don;t understand how anyone has the time to keep their nails immaculate - or near-immaculate. Because I do an hours work and the paint is chipped on every nail. Unless others just have jobs that don't involve their hands...?

I threw away all that cosmetic junk long ago. My nails are usually kept nibbled. I don't know why. I've wondered at one time if it wasn't a calicum definecy since they are made up of that.

i keep my nails short beacuse in my work i should have clean and short nails. I have it manicured sometimes but most of the time i clean it by myself but with my feet i let a manicurist clean it. They do not charge that much and it is a home service so i dont have to go to the parlor regularly.

I love wearing rings so I very care about the shape of my fingers. But I don't visit a manicurist regularly. Of course their charge are too much for one thing I can do well by myself. I usually keep my finger nails a little long and very clean. Nail painting is nice but not good for nail healthy so I do it about twice week one time.

I let them grow, but otherwise I don't give them alot of attention. I'll paint them occasionally for the holidays...but I don't have the money to go to a pro painter, epsecially when I can do it myself lol. *never was a girly girl*

I like to keep my nails short. No polish and clean. I have buffed them shiny many times though. I have had acrylics put on for weddings as such. I like the way they look but hate the way they feel. I never bite my nails unless I have acrylics on. I don't like feeling on having them cover my nail; so without thinking I am trying to bite them off! They usually don't last long. Having them is bad for my nail bed and my teeth! I keep polish on my toenails only.

my nails currently look like crap. i need to do them. i prefer medium length, not short or too long. too short is plain and ugly, and too long is annoying. and now that summer is coming, i need to do my toenails as well. i do it myself, whatever color i feel like painting. usually matching my clothes. i repaint it when it gets chipped, which is fast. but my nails tend to break because i tend to be active.

I guess my nails are medium-long, though they grow so fast they always end up this length. I've stopped painting them and just buff and clean them for a more natural look. My nails are kept in good condition as I keep them clean and buffed (I keep a manicure kit in my handbag...lol). I have never visited a manicurist, a waste of money when I can do it myself.

I like my nails long because whenever I have short nails, dirt gets in easier. And I wouldn't want to have dirty nails so I just maintain its long length. And with long nails, I find typing and texting easier. I also love painting them with fresh and even bold colors. It makes me happy.
