i purchased a dell laptop last year during back to school season and i really hate this stupid thing sometimes! i had a dell desktop that came to an unfortunate end after three years of dutiful service. so i decided to give dell another chance when i decided to upgrade. i tell you one thing, my next computer will be an hp!
i got stuck with this ridiculous vista software which should have never been released to the public. half of the time, my computer is frozen and doesn't work. the other half of the time is spent running virus and adware scans just to make sure that there is nothing wrong with it. i wish that i could go back to xp. my printer is like new because i very rarely used it. now i can't use it because it's not compatible. and all the software downloads and upgrades in the world from dell and microsoft won't get it to work. and please don't get me started on customer service!! what a bunch of hacks!
the only thing that i really like about this thing is that it takes up way less space and i have tons of storage that came standard on here. but man, do i have buyer's remorse.

We bought a Dell computer months ago. It worked well except the hard disk made a little noise when it is started. We called Dell service and the engineer came and replaced the hard disk.
We also have problems with the vista software, our old software couldn't be compatible with the system. So we have to turn back to windows XP, and it works well.

You could install VISTA and XP in different disks. And when you boot your computor, you will find two boot menu which are XP and VISTA separately, Just select the one you want(highlight) and press "ENTER"!

OMG. i feel dell is far better than HP. i am using hp latop now. HP's servive is the worst in the world. But, dell's is the best. they will come to your door and service it. its really great. and even they replace the spare parts very easily. i am fed up with this HP and am planning to buy a vaio or dell. what do you say?
keep rocking...

i don't know. i had some problems with my old dell desktop. while it was still under warranty, they refused to fix it. when we called tech support, the stuff that they told us to do made it even worse. even now, they have cut back on their warranties that come with their products and they keep giving harassing phone calls to my house all hours of the day and night to try to force me to buy an extended service plan so that they can "guarantee" that my laptop will still work tomorrow. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST, please.

I think its not problem Dell but its problem with vista. Nost of the guys using vista home basic are having this probelm and to worsen this their is antivirus. but if u try to install XP on the same laptop i guess it will give u the best performance.Even i am using dell and have same problem but when i roll back to XP its working perfectly fine and most of the time my CPU usage is 8-10% so i never have problem of system getting hang.
