Check you hard disk cable first and ensure they are properly connected, if it doesn't go with Leocatubig's suggestion.

The reason for this is that the PC is not detecting or reading the hard drive. Cause for this, the hard drive can be burn out. The hard drive might be improperly plug. Or just that something in the PC is not able to read it do to some proble. Try to see if the hard drive makes any sound and run hard drive text. This can tell you whats wrong with it

There might be some bad sectors on your hard disk and the operating system is reporting problems with reading the hard disk. You could try using scandisk if you're running windows. If the problem is minor then scandisk might be able to fix it. If scandisk cannot help then reformatting might do the trick. Sometimes the hard disk just gives up. If your hard disk has been used for over 7 years then it might just have given up the ghost. Constant reads and writes can also wear your hard disk out. One example is when you do a lot of auto-surfing for traffic and have several tabs open. This can kill your hard disk.
