marriage proposal

how can a guy possibly propose marriage to a girl?..can you share your story or probably your ideal marriage proposal?i like hearing stories like that..i find it so romantic..thank you in advance

An ideal scenario that seldom happens: A man befriended a lady and came to know about her. The man asks more information from trusted folks about the girl and her family. Then he also talks to her parents. Finally, he made the decision of courting the girl so he asked permission from her parents. After that, he buys the best ring their is and go to the girl and asked, [b]"Will you marry me?"[/b].
How I wish this happens and my kids do this when it's the time to get married!

Well I've at least got the first part of that right so far. My boyfriend and I were introduced by my cousin(who is also one of my closest friends). My now-boyfriend and my cousin talked for several days about me before we met at a bar. I had asked my cousin about him several times as well.
We have now been together a little over 2 years. My personal rule is that I will not say yes to marrage until after dating 3 years. Not sure why, but I made that rule a long time ago, so Im sticking to it. We are certianly heading in that direction.
Im not sure if he will talk to my dad specifically about getting engaged because they have had a conversation about it where I have been present. In any case, this year can hardly pass fast enough. :)
