For Only 17 Cents A Day, You Can Help Save The Dinosaurs!

Ever notice that the human population is always trying to save some kind of animal? Whales, seals, polar bear cubs, dogs, cats, even the starving children in Africa. And the catchline is always something like "For only 2 cents a day, you can help feed these children/keep the ice caps from melting/help strays become pets." I recently saw a commercial on TV asking for money to help keep polar bear cubs from dying. There are countless shows on TV that have weak animals being captured, rehabilitated, and put back in their natural habitat. It may sound callous, but that's just the way of nature. Some species have to die out so that other species can come in. Survival of the fittest isn't only true for humans. In a true "natural" habitat, with no human interference, weak animals don't survive. This insures that only the "strong" ones are breeding. It's Nature's way of separating the wheat from the chaff. Who are we, as a species of our own, to presume that we can stop the world from changing? All that does is make certain that there isn't room for other species to develop, ones that may be better suited to our changing world than the current populations are. So I've decided that the sole reason that dinosaurs roam no more is this: There were no humans around to raise money to "save" them.

I LOVED your title, I am ready to send my seventeen cents! Hey, on other areas they are talking about saving and making money. Maybe you can start your own save the dinosaurs! Once you have them saved, I would like a pet dinosaur. This would also add jobs we would need pooper scoopers, they drop about 1 ton per day! There is work that wouldn't run out! I believe you are on to something here!

Hey, that's a great idea! You will be the first to get a pet dinosaur. What kind would you like? Pterodactyl? Tyrannosaur? Water monster? You get to pick, and I will even have it pure-bred AKC registered for you! You will have to hire your own pooper-scooper, though, I refuse to provide that particular service!

LMAO! Sign me up for a Long Neck! First I thought pterodactyls but then I would have to have it's wings clipped, then cleaning up that poo every where! Oiy! So I think a long neck would do, he would be great for security, he could see somebody coming a mile away! I think Sally Struthers may available for commercials.......

I'm thinking of having my rescued dinos genetically engineered for tininess. How would you like a chihuahua-sized tyrannosaurus? Talk about being an ankle-biter! Of course, I'll save one full-sized long neck for you, just for a great watch-dog. Let me know if you find a qualified trainer!

That's a good reason for dinosaurs going extinct. And I agree with you on this subject. I have to say I was always taught that charity begins at home, so I'm sick of hearing about all the starving children in Africa, what about all the children in America with no food, no shelter, wondering where the next meal is coming from. How about keeping the money here and feeding our own.

Oh my goodness! I was thinking about something similar to this just a few days ago. A local tv network aired this documentary inspired by Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" and the entire time while I was watching I thought about what if there's really nothing we can do to stop any of this?! Not that I'm being pessimistic, but, as you point out, nature does have her way with how this whole world goes. Species go buhbye if they cannot keep up with the changing environment, and we're still here simply because nature is still kinder to us, one way or the other. I totally understand why people go around saving mother earth and all of her creatures, which is why I hope that all of these efforts pay off in the end. xoxo, ajhie!
