First I have to say that I could probably do more than I am, but being environmentally conscious is very difficult. I definitely do my best however and now with kids, I especially am working harder at it. I do the general things like recycling and asking for paper bags. My husband and I are trying to bring our own plastic bags when we go grocery shopping. While we shop, we do not put our produce into the small plastic bags. We try to buy bulk from local stores and bring our own containers. I haven't done this yet, but I want to make homemade cleaners, with some exceptions. We have been trying to buy as many things locally. All food goes into the compost bins. Like I said, there are so many more things we could be doing, but it's difficult and could be expensive. Our car for example, runs on gasoline and we use it everyday. Also, we cannot afford to shop from our farmer's market every weekend, the prices are ridiculous. We are going to get involved in a share this summer where we pay a farmer $500 and for the whole summer we are allowed to pick up as much food we want from his stand. Well, like I said, we are trying on our part. If not for the environment, at least for ourselves and for our 2 boys. If the environment isn't healthy, how can it be healthy for us to live in? Are you an environmentally conscious person? Do you do a lot or are you taking baby steps like me?

It is hard and I still don't do what I need to do to make a difference. I recycle everything that I can, have cut my trash WAY down, drive an Escape Hybrid, but I don't think of the smaller things like you talked about with produce bags. I just figure if I recycle them it's okay. I forget what it takes to recycle. You use compost bins? Where do you find them?

Well, you can even try to cut down on your trash even deeper by recycling more stuff and composting unwanted food and organic material. Just simply go to www.wm.com and www.compostumbler.com. Waste Management deals with recycling. While CompoTumbler is the company that is expert on composting.

Sometimes being environmentally conscious is very difficult, but we have to try our best. We only have one planet. We either use the resources wisely or abuse them and we persish along with our planet prematurely. Sometimes we have to make an extra effort....it may not seem much at present, but in the long run it pays off. We recycle as much of the material as we can. We have seperate bins in the garage for: Glass, Plastic, Rubber, Paper products, Steel items and one bin for items which sometimes just cannot be easily labelled...like composite items. Kitchen rubbish is usually buried in the backyard and once it turns into compost, we use it as natural fertiliser for our vegetable garden, flower bed, and other items in the garden like the trees. We try to take in our own bags to the supermarket and keep on reusing them. They are heavy duty decorative cloth bags....we've been using them for many years. Like you said....nothing can be done about the gas burning car....we ourselves have no other choice...sure we car pool when we can...sometimes we use the public transport...if the weather is good i even cycle to work and to friends house...Hybrid cars are way to expensive at the moment....so they are out of the question at least until the price becomes a little bit more affordable.

Well, for me, in order to remain clean and green is to recycle all my unwanted stuff. I will return plastic shopping bags that I do not want at all. I will keep my place organized. I cut down on garbage. I am always environmentally conscientious and conservative. Of course, I recycle lots of stuff. Whenever it comes to food, unwanted stuff should not be thrown away at all. It should be composted. In order to learn about recycling, the best website I could simply think of is www.wm.com - for Waste Management. In order to learn about composting, just simply go to the ComposTumbler's website: www.compostumbler.com. Let me know what you think.
