So, for some time I have been having the problem that after pressing ctrl-alt-del my task manager which normally should load - does not. Can anyone give me some pointers on fixing this problem?

I think task manager might be disabled,or when there is a busy activity it takes some time to load.

I am sure it is due to the virus that is not letting the task manager to load and open, only virus can disable the task manager either so you should run the scan of the antivirus installed in your computer, make sure the antivirus is updated, if there will be a virus it will be removed. If even after the scan task manager is not loading then surely a virus in the window then its better install the window again so try it out it would be working for you. Have a nice day!!

Please check also if could run regedit and DOS cmd, If you can't maybe you're using a limited user account(not an administrator) its a good thing though. But if you are an administrator then you're probably infected. Do a system scan and check you auto-run(programs automatically loaded at boot up). Hope this help.

If you get a message "task manger disabled then it's a virus. Try with spybot search and destroy.
