have you done something to save the earth?

I just bought a book to add to our homeschool library. It's called Living Like Ed by Ed Begley Jr. He's an actor that "went green" before going green was popular. He breaks down our lives into 6 categories that we can change little(and big) things to save money and the planet. We just started reading it, and there are some very interesting things one can do to make a little bit of a difference. Some things my family does are: Reuse as many things as possible, if we are done with them, we pass them on to someone who needs them. We shop resale, and thrift stores before buying new. We do not use fertilizers or pesticides in our garden...this is the first year for this new journey down organic gardening. This means we are recycling our scraps and yard waste and turning it into fresh new soil. We pick up trash along side the road or sidewalks where ever we go, be it the park, a nature trail, or just down the street. This isn't a whole lot, but its what we know how to do for now. I'm excited to learn some new things from this book.

I try my best with the limited resources that I have to do as much as possible to save the earth....even the small things will add up....I never litter, I recycle everything, I never leave the water running when I do not need to and lights are always off if I am not using them....it may be small, but its a start!
